  1. Ukraine Can't Win the War, Slovak foreign affairs minister
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ukraine cannot win the war, Slovak foreign affairs minister Juraj Blanár said Thursday after the talks with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó in Bratislava. “We can see the light at the end of the tunnel,” he added, referring to the recent steps taken by the US President Trump's administration.

He also criticised EU leaders for pushing forward a narrative that the war in Ukraine can be won. “We don't agree with that,” Blanár said.

At a joint press conference after their meeting, Hungarian foreign minister Péter #Szijjártó said it's only Brussels that wants the war. According to Szijjártó, Brussels and Kyiv pose a risk to the energy stability of Slovakia and Hungary, which can only rely on one another.

  3. Ukrainian Embassy Condemns Statements by the Head of Advisors to Slovak PM Robert Fico
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Ukrainian Embassy in Slovakia strongly condemns the disgraceful statements made by Erik Kaliňák, the head of advisors to Slovak PM Robert Fico, that Russia would be a more reliable neighbour than Ukraine.

Kaliňák, a deputy chairman of Fico’s Smer party, said in an interview today that if the Russians came to Uzhgorod, Slovakia would finally have ‘a trustworthy neighbour’.

According to the embassy, his statement goes against Slovakia’s obligation to respect the international law, including the inviolability of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of an independent country. The Ukrainian Embassy plans to send a note to the Slovak foreign affairs ministry asking for an explanation for this inappropriate statement and reserves the right to take reciprocal measures to protect Ukraine’s national interests.

  5. Slovak PM Fico: Ukraine has lost already
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
“It’s 100% sure that Ukraine has already lost this war and is still losing,” pro-Moscow Slovak PM Robert Fico told the Slovak parliament’s EU affairs committee before leaving for an EU summit in Brussels later today.
According to Fico, the sanctions are not working, and Russia is emerging from the war stronger than ever. “Visit large Russian cities and see how people are suffering under the sanctions. They haven’t even noticed them,” Fico said, adding that Russia is making huge money from natural gas.
The parliamentary committee also gave the green-light to Fico’s intention to veto the conclusions on further EU aid and support for Ukraine expected to be adopted at the Brussels summit, if they don’t mention the restoration of Russian gas transit to Slovakia through Ukraine.
“There’s a strategy here that the war must go on. But we won’t give any military aid to Ukraine,” Fico also told the parliamentary committee, emphasising that the document to be adopted in Brussels today was about the war only.

  7. Russians in Uzhgorod more reliable partners than Ukrainians
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the Russians came to Uzhgorod, Slovakia would finally have "a reliable neighbour", Erik Kaliňák, a Slovak MEP for Prime Minister Robert Fico's ruling SMER party, said in an interview for the interez.sk portal. He also warned that Slovakia must be prepared for the dissolution of NATO.

According to Kaliňák, Slovakia had to "save" Ukraine several times in the past after it "built up" an economic conflict with Russia, while Ukraine was never willing to help Slovakia. That's what makes the Russians a more trustworthy partner for Slovakia, he added.

Erik Kaliňák is the head of advisors to Slovakia’s pro-Putin PM Fico and a nephew of Slovak defence (!) minister Robert Kaliňák, who suggested at a joint press conference with the Polish defence minister in Poland last week that the Ukrainians would be better off if they didn't fight back against the Russians.

"The Russians will leave one day," he said, adding that if people in the former Czechoslovakia had resisted the Soviet invasion in 1968, it would have cost many more lives and changed nothing. The ‘Russians-will-leave-on-day’ moment came more than 20 years later.
