I did try #SimpleSMS, and it works well. However, I found it too basic.
Instead I landed on #TextraSMS, that suits me well. I paid for the “pro” version and I don't see any ads at all. It was a one-time expense, and not a subscription.
The only weird thing I have experienced is that even though I have set Textra as my default SMS app, the stock SMS app will announce all SMSes that have arrived since last reboot as “new messages” whenever I restart my phone. Must be a bug somewhere… -

@KazukyAkayashi C'est assez ironique je trouve que les SMS soient si soudainement revenus en grâce.
En revanche, je déconseille fortement #SimpleSMS dispo sur #Fdroid : Les MMS fonctionnent au petit bonheur la chance, et l'appli rame en quasi-permanence. C'est dommage, surtout quand on connait les autres applis de la gamme "Simple" qui sont vraiment top pour le coup.
Bref, bonne chance dans ta quête. Et si tu trouves une app' digne de ce nom pour les SMS, fais tourner 😉

I'm having eyes on #TextraSMS, #ChompSMS, and #SimpleSMS. Are there other apps I should consider?
#GoogleMessages is out of question.
#QKSMS and #Silence both seem to be abandonware.
#PulseSMS seems to be acquired by a less reputable company.

Dis-voir la #Fédiverse
Je souhaite changer d'application pour les #SMS : En effet, #Silence n'est plus mis à jour depuis trop longtemps. Et #SimpleSMS a eu tout le temps de montrer ses limites entre plantages réguliers, impossibilité d'envoyer des #MMS...
Tu aurais une #Appli à me conseiller ? J'ai une préférence pour l'#OpenSource mais à ce stade de ras-le-bol vis-à-vis de l'actuelle, je suis à deux doigts d'installer la première venue 🤔
