As I read my ARC of @tbcart.bsky.social's Jester, I keep comparing favorably to Pagan, because Shelly is likewise a first person narrator who makes you constantly aware that he is a PERSON and he has OPINIONS. #SFFChat

#SFFChat A3: The first two writers who come to mind are Megan Whalen Turner and Catherine Jinks. MWT's Queen's Thief series has different POV characters in each book, and it changes the flavor dramatically; Jinks's Pagan Chronicles have a narrator with a very, very strong voice.

#SFFChat Heh. My interest in gender history very much comes through in my work - I'm always exploring settings with gender roles similar to historical Europe/US. Happy Secret is the most egalitarian thing I've written or even conceptualized in years.
