My 5x5 top albums of last month (April 2026)

Is anyone here a fan of *Tommy* by The Who? Because I’m not. It’s amazing how boring that album is compared to the great *Who’s next*.

Reccing National Wake, they are special because it was South Africa’s first multiracial punk band. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Wake ) I’d say their music is similar to The Ruts.

- listenbrainz-mpd : compile pas, la dépendance sur sqlite3 est pétée et je comprends rien à cargo
- wylt : le github n'existe plus, Google ne m'a pas aidé.

It seems that both #lastfm and #listenbrainz are not responding currently.
And for how long? No idea.
And since how long? No f*$% idea!

And then you wonder why people like me (experienced #sysadmin) self-host so much software: the uptime may not be better but at least 1. you can act when there is a problem and 2. the service won't disappear suddenly

A much better solution is of course mutualized community hosting :)

But I'm pretty satisfied with the end result and the features.

I want to find a solution to scrobble vinyl listens to ListenBrainz. I’m imagining a raspberry pi with a microphone near a speaker that listens to track and identifies it through MusicBrainz and then submits the track to ListenBrainz. Or, I could get something with a barcode scanner and scan the barcode on the record sleeve and it would submit the record. Hmm… #ListenBrainz #scrobbling #MusicBrainz

Disappointed by my #scrobbling numbers over the past few years, I created a small script last week to encourage me to reach a target of 10.000 scrobbles this year. It is run every time I open a new terminal, in order to make sure I'm exposed to the numbers regularly.

I decided to delete all non-music form my last.fm (and eventually ListenBrainz) histroy. That history goes back to 2005. Wow, what a trip down memory lane.

But I want to know, of those here who scrobble their listens, no matter the service, do you keep everything in your history, or do you delete certain stuff?

If you ever see me actively #scrobbling #StarTrek The Astral Symphony, the odds are very high that I'm asleep. It's my comfort album. I've listened to it so many times over the (ugh!) decades, that it helps me relax. Of course it was one of the first albums I ripped when I learned about FLAC.
