#Rijeka 🇭🇷 station in May 2019: two Croatian Railways #HŽ class 1141 electrics are awaiting further duties. Number 301, in the foreground, will most likely start working a #Ljubljana-bound train as far as #Šapjane, where a loco of the 🇸🇮 Slovenian Railways, SŽ, will take over.

🇸🇮🛤🇭🇷 This is the #CrossBorderRail edition of my trip with train №481 "Opatija" from #Ljubljana🇸🇮 to #Rijeka🇭🇷.

Since the beginning of 2023 #Croatia🇭🇷 is part of the #Schengen treaty which means a.o. no border checks in #IlirskaBistrica🇸🇮 and #Šapjane🇭🇷. There are only two trains per day crossing the border - which runs through the 399m long "Malo Brdo" tunnel🚇 - of these two European Union🇪🇺 countries! @jon
