Spring 2003: my first visit to the #CFHA, the Chemins de fer de la Haute Auvergne 🇫🇷. On board the #GentianeExpress heritage railcar #X2403 between Riom-ès-Montagnes and Lugarde at the heart of the Massif Central mountains. A truly beautiful ride. #PastTrainTrips

Earlier this month, #FS #Trenitalia 🇮🇹 ran their last diesel loco hauled passenger train: the services are now being worked by #DMU Diesel Multiple Units. My photo below shows a Class D.445, with the daytime Reggio Calabria to Taranto #InterCity, in February 2015.

I was particularly lucky when travelling on the #Ashford International to #Hastings #Marshlink Line 🇬🇧 back in (I think) 2005 or 2006: a lovely 1950s Class 201 #Thumper unit worked the train instead of a more modern Class 171 #Turbostar trainset.
