  1. So, #MSM is parroting #Trump administration's accusations that #Iran was behind the #Cyberattack on water systems in #Minnesota. Sounds like a good excuse to wipe out #WaterResources in Iran as revenge! Plus, similar incidents have happened in #MN. Who has a big grudge against folks in Minnesota? Not Iran!!!

Cyberattack targets Minnesota cities' water systems

"State technology officials say more than 30 Minnesota municipal water systems were targeted in a coordinated cyberattack this week.

"In at least one case, a city’s well and treatment plant were temporarily knocked offline Monday. Other cities reported that the attack targeted communications and automated operations within their water system — forcing a move to manual workarounds.

"The attack prompted Minnesota IT Services to activate a statewide cybersecurity incident response involving local, state and federal agencies.

"Authorities did not say whether they know who is responsible for the cyberattack and did not elaborate on a possible motive.

"Officials said water in the affected cities remains safe to drink."

    [...]

"The city of Braham reported that the attack targeted the computerized operating systems for its well and water treatment plant.

"Mayor Nate George told #MPR News that a water plant operator noticed a problem Monday morning: The city’s water tower needed to draw in water, but the well wasn’t working.

" 'There was power — but there was no controls, you know, telling the water where to go,' he said.

"The city alerted #BrahamMN residents to limit water use, to keep the water in the tower from running out. An investigation found that a cyberattack caused the outage.

" 'They were able to hack into the control system of the of the well and just turn the well off, basically,' George said.

"Within an hour and a half, city staff got the system back up and running. The city said the attack 'did not alter or cause any issue to the physical water plant or water quality or safety.'

"The cities of #MaplePlainMN, #PlymouthMN and South St. Paul reported issues with automated controls and communications for their water systems.

" 'The issue is limited to equipment connected via cellular communications within the system, and crews have continued operating as normal through manual procedures,' the city of Plymouth reported Monday evening.

"Michael Thompson is the public works director in Plymouth. He said Tuesday that the city has extra staff monitoring the water system while automated operations are offline.

" 'We plan for these types of events, so we just had to physically go out to lift stations or the water towers, just to ensure they were functioning and running properly,' he said.

"State officials did not say which other cities were targeted in the cyberattack.

"Other local governments around the state have been targeted by cyberattacks in recent years, including the city of #SaintPaulMN in 2025 and #WinonaCounty earlier this year. Some school districts have also been affected."

  3. Canadian #wildfire smoke turns air hazardous in the US #Midwest. Officials say stay inside

By TAMMY WEBBER and PHILIP MARCELO, July 16, 2026

NEW YORK (AP) — "Heavy, pungent smoke from #CanadianWildfires darkened skies in the U.S. on Thursday from the #GreatLakes to parts of the #EastCoast, reducing visibility for commuters and prompting warnings that air quality could make being outside dangerous.

"#Detroit’s air quality was among the worst in the world for major cities, as a lingering high pressure system trapped smoke from dozens of fires in Canada and northern Minnesota, said Steven Freitag, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Pontiac, Michigan.

" 'Sure enough, it arrived in force here and it’s really pretty extreme levels,' said Freitag, who noted that visibility in some areas was reduced to a half mile.

"Omar Mitchell wore a mask as he walked to his restaurant in Detroit. He said he urged his employees to do the same.

" 'It’s scary,' Mitchell, 50, said as he looked at the sky. 'You don’t know necessarily what the side effects may be. That’s days or months later.'

"Cities across the Great Lakes states registered air quality ranging from unhealthy to hazardous — which means it’s unhealthy for anyone, regardless of health conditions. Microscopic particles can lodge deep in the lungs and enter the bloodstream, leading to heart and lung problems and contributing to other long-term health issues.

"All of #Michigan and much of #Minnesota were under a hazardous #AirQualityAlert. In the Chicago area, air quality ranged from very unhealthy to hazardous.

"National Weather Service meteorologist Jake Petr said even if winds from the northwest clear skies as expected later this week, the smoky air could keep returning until the fires are out. That could take weeks or longer.

" 'Anytime we have something that could bring air from that region until the fires are over, it could conceivably dip back into the area,' Petr said.

"In #SaintPaulMN, the air was 'glowing yellow,' said Brent Williams, head of the soil, water and climate department at the University of Minnesota, who said the area 'could be looking at weeks to months of continued smoke and flare-ups off and on as the winds blow in different directions.'

"A study published this year found that long-term exposure to tiny particles from wildfire smoke contributed to an average of 24,100 deaths a year in the lower 48 states. Long-term exposure can make existing health problems worse and lead to a range of chronic and deadly health issues, including respiratory illness, cardiovascular and neurological diseases, and premature death."

  9. #Minnesota and the #TwinCities sue the federal government to stop the #ImmigrationCrackdown

By REBECCA SANTANA, MARK VANCLEAVE and STEVE KARNOWSKI
    Updated 8:58 PM EST, January 12, 2026

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — "Minnesota and its two largest cities sued the Trump administration Monday to try to stop an immigration enforcement surge that led to the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by a federal officer and evoked outrage and protests across the country.

"The state, joined by #Minneapolis and #StPaul, said the Department of Homeland Security is violating the First Amendment and other constitutional protections. The lawsuit seeks a temporary restraining order to halt the enforcement action or limit the operation.

" 'This is, in essence, a federal invasion of the Twin Cities in Minnesota, and it must stop,' state Attorney General #KeithEllison said at a news conference. 'These poorly trained, aggressive and armed agents of the federal state have terrorized Minnesota with widespread unlawful conduct.' "

  11. #NativeAmericaCalling: Protecting #SacredSites in urban areas

    Tuesday, October 7, 2025

"Protecting sacred sites in urban areas
Sacred sites sometimes get lost in urban settings as cities prioritize the needs of non-Native residents and commercial interests over the historical and spiritual value for Native Americans.

"But tribes and Native organizations are having some success connecting with city officials to see that sacred spaces are protected and accessible. After years of restoration work, what were known as the #IndianMounds in #SaintPaulMN, have a whole new look, a new #Dakota name — #Wicaḣapi — and an educational #CulturalCenter.

"Over in St. Louis, Missouri, the city just solidified a transfer of property that signifies its first-ever recognition of #TribalSovereignty. The sacred #SugarloafMound is being returned to the care of the #OsageNation, whose people were removed from the land.

"Tune into Native America Calling to talk about the difficult work to recognize and preserve sacred places in population centers."

  13. Hey St. Paul, my friend who lives near Grand in the Rondo neighborhood in St. Paul has a 17 year old son who is looking for his first part-time job. It could be literally anything. He has no work experience yet. He does not have a car, but can bus/walk. He's been filling in applications with all the big retailers, etc. but no call backs yet. Any leads?
