I left Reddit after the API controversy. I decided to try adding some subreddits to my rss reader, just to peak at them without using the official app. So many of my old communities are just. Gone. Mostly smaller communities. The mods lost their tools, became overwhelmed with bots, and just shut down. I’m heartbroken at the loss of so many online communities lately. #RIPReddit

Sites that rely on free labour from user created and curated content needs to carefully nurture and encourage their most active members for them to continue. Least of all punish them.

And just like that, Sync for Reddit and thus Reddit is gone. At least for me.

Farewell Sync, my friend, you were a good one.

#Sync was one of the few apps I paid for, hearing that its developer is working on Sync For Lemmy gives me hope.

In the meantime, are there any good Lemmy clients for Android? What are you using?

My calendar widget got its background from the top post on r/cats (every now and then it was one of those very gross “what’s this on my cat?” posts where the answer was always “vet. now.” but mostly it was cute pics.

Sigh. Don’t want to accidentally open it so I’ve deleted #Apollo for my iPhone. When I get home I’ll log out on my Mac so I don’t accidentally log in there either.

11 years, over 12k posts/comments are being deleted from #reddit due to the greed the admins have become.

#SummerGameFest was fun. #MortalKombat1 looks awesome.

Also keep in mind that Reddit has an IPO breathing down their necks. As a reason to be willfully bloodyminded that is the weakest of sauces, but dumber decisions have been made for the same reason.
