This month's #retroreading is #Crash from July 1987. It's a fairly pedestrian issue, typical mid-summer fare with few big releases. They seemed to be in a minor flap about the emergence of quality budget games, with some of the letters page reflecting the kind of prejudice you see in modern "triple A" gaming talk.
There's freebie copy of Oink comic (terrible), and a first look at the NES, which they seemed decidedly unimpressed with (except Julian Rignall, unsurprisingly).

This month's #RetroReading is a C+VG magazine from March 1988.
It's a mostly uneventful month, at a time when C+VG was mostly focused on the 8/16 home micros (and a far cry from the bombastic style of its 90s incarnation).
But this double-paged #MasterSystem ad really ticked the nostalgia bone...

Flicking through #YourSinclair from October 1986 and, amid the dizzying waves of nostalgia, I happened on the Pen Pals section... It's astounding to me that teenage boys and girls happily provided their names and addresses like this, and that YS printed them! A different time indeed...
