  3. So I turn on the Core Grafx 2 to test the FRAM mod and I am missing red again. So it was not the RGB amp... Using a different #pcengine unit or cable gate the same result. There was only 1 more thing left that could cause it (in my mind). The DIN socket... and it was... #retromodding

  4. OK. I went ahead and jumpered J1. Turned on the Super CD-Rom² and I am getting a picture, including the RGB jailbars. There is still something off with the colors though. #pcengine #PCエンジン #retromodding #retrorevival

  5. Removed The 5-pin DIN socket, cut off the protruding parts of the 3 extra pins from the 8-pin port, then soldered it onto the board. Now to test if everything is still working (composite). #pcengine #retrorevival #retromodding

  6. Dremel was not in my room, too lazy to go to the garage, so I used the smaller Mechanic (from #aliexpress) dremel, which worked much better actually for such a small area. Enough clearance for the wires now, so we can continue. #neogeo #retromodding

  7. There is very little space between the front side of the PCB and the bottom shell. So I will be removing a little bit (see marking) with a dremel, just enough for the wires to pass without getting squeezed between the PCB and the bottom case. #neogeo #retromodding

  8. These are the points you can use to tap audio from. Left, Right and Ground. The side I am using this time is line level audio, if you connect to the points on the other side you can control the volume of the audio with the volume slider just like a headphone. #neogeo #retromodding #retrorevival

  9. The stereo mod. Will run cable over top (again), not enough clearance bottom side for the 24AWG 2-core cable I am using. And all the sharp points sticking out could prick through the cable and make contact with the GND shielding of the cable. #neogeo #retromodding #retrorevival

  12. Keep forgetting how fragile the AES boards are. Bodged a few pads. My way of removing the caps is also to blame. I heat up one side, bend, heat up other s8de, bend, until it comes out. Works well if the pads don't come off... #snk #neogeo #retrorevival #retromodding

  13. Put new caps in (except the 2200uF low profile one). Cleaned up, test... and still working... phew :). Maybe continue tonight with the RGB bypass. #snk #neogeo #retrorevival #retromodding

  14. Removed all caps except the RGBS ones, because I want to test before I do the RGB bypass mod and for that mod those caps need to be removed altogether. Cleaned up flux residue as well. #snk #neogeo #retrorevival #retromodding

  15. Forgot to take more photos while working, so he made these afterwards. Do you think he will notice this #psp is actually an homage to Mr.Driller? Have to order the DC jack and replace the umbilical cord that is now hanging out from the PSP. #retrogaming #retromodding

  16. And in the end we got it all working (phew) in it's new jacket. A lot of frigging screws though. The #aliexpress shell was so so. Not recommended. Some parts just didn't fit and I had to cut and holes I needed to enlarge. Plastic also felt cheap. #psp #retromodding

  20. Low melt solder is your friend when removing a chip.... But if you intend to reuse the chip... The pain! The horror! When does the hurting stop?! Cleaning the low melt from the legs is a pain in the arse. #retrorevival #retromodding

  21. For reference, these photos are from my working 1CHIP. Colors seem a bit off though, but that's for another time. When looking at the completely green and red screen the colors seem off. #snes #sfc #retrorevival #retromodding

  22. Decided to go with this. I am using TRRS (tip, ring, ring, sleeve) jack instead of TRS, because this will also allow me to connect composite to it so it can also be used with a 3.5mm to AV RCA cable. #neogeo #snk #retromodding

  23. Soldered the shielded audio cable to the headphone jack pins and routed it to the back via the top side. Previously I routed it bottom side, but due to the thickness of the cable it did not fit well. So this time I am routing it too side to the back. #snk #neogeo #retromodding #retrorevival

  24. De decided not to touch the RGB, since they are already good as it is in the AES3-5. So now I will try to isolate CSync but also try to keep composite. Had to resort to hot glue though. #snk #neogeo #retromodding
