  1. Quite well concealed, but I managed to photograph it: a #ReedWarbler in the reeds that grow near the Nar Outfall, where that river joins the Great Ouse.

  3. @zvrt The great #reedwarbler is a #migratory bird that has become rare in #CentralEurope. One notable #behavior is #infanticide committed by females of the same #species. B. Hansson et al. (1997) describe how, in this #polygamous species, #secondaryfemales destroy the eggs of primary females in the hope that the male will subsequently invest more support in there own #brood.

  5. A Eurasian Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) at RSPB Middleton Lakes last month, near to where I watched a singing Sedge #Warbler earlier the same day. Both birds, uncharacteristically, perched where I could photograph them, although this one did keep his head behind that reed stem most of the time!

  7. The #ReedWarbler is much more difficult to photograph than some of its relatives.
Not because it is so rare. It is common and can be seen frequently: But first it sits and sings low in the reeds and when it leaves, the nimble brown ball flies to its destination and disappears again between the stalks.

  9. So, I managed a photo of the Reed Warbler at a local lake last week, and like busses, I see them again today. This time I managed better photos of this beautiful little bird.

  11. Falls ihr denkt, wir Hobby-Ornis würden still am ruhigen Teich stehen, also, hier ist die Geräuschkulisse zum Foto.
