  1. Found these old growth redwoods with some thick burn scars. Our old trees hold some important stories we could learn from. Probably preaching to the choir here, but worth saying we need our old growth trees to protect our environment from fires, keeping ecosystems diverse and extra cool during these burning hot days. And when we might feel helpless in that challenge its not hopeless, just being around these giant trees creates an inner calm you can actually feel. Growing in the language of peace. Trees are like a warm friend, always there when you need them.

  2. I traveled through Redwood National Park on a recent road trip. The National Park Service has been gutted. The restrooms were closed, and the overflowing Porta potties had not been serviced since February (per service tags). Infuriating that we will have so much to repair and restore when the vandal horde has been removed.

  6. Today's hike was at Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve, on the San Francisco Peninsula. This scene was a pretty spot on the Whittemore Gulch Trail, with some lichen on the redwoods and lots of sword-hilt ferns below the trees. #redwoods #hiking #phtography #sfba

  7. Hear incredible firsthand accounts of Sasquatch encounters, from a sighting in the California redwoods to mysterious happenings near the Illinois River. Discover compelling evidence and the fear that keeps people silent. Richard Mason is interviewed by Dr. Michael Lorenzen (University Archivist at Western Illinois University) in 2021. #bigfoot #redwoods youtu.be/UMD67zfLAOM?si=q7QbTh

  8. I swear every day I live in some kind of fantasy fairytale land up here in Eureka, CA along the Redwood Coast in northern California.

This is literally the city park. I mean, deep redwoods, 10 minutes away from everyone’s house. It’s like stepping into another world. I keep expecting to see some Big Bad Wolf step out from behind a giant tree.

That being said, there are indeed bears.

    They just don’t talk.

As an artist, I can tell you that I am blessed with an overabundance of photo reference. Ha!
