L'arresto è stato eseguito a seguito di un mandato di arresto internazionale, noto come Red Notice, emesso dalla Procura Distrettuale Antimafia di Roma, poiché SINOMATI è ritenuto la "mente" dietro l'omicidio di SHEHAJ Selavdi, detto Passerotto, avvenuto domenica 20 settembre 2020, in una spiaggia affollata di Torvajanica, Pomezia.
Le indagini, condotte congiuntamente dal Nucleo Investigativo dei #Carabinieri di Roma, dalla Squadra Mobile della #Questura di Roma e dallo #SCO della Polizia di Stato, hanno fornito solide prove contro SINOMATI Altin per aver ordinato a CALDERON Raul Esteban di commettere l'omicidio, versandogli in contanti di 150.000 per l'esecuzione.
Per questo delitto, CALDERON Raul Esteban, considerato l'effettivo autore, e MOLISSO Giuseppe, in concorso, sono già stati condannati dalla Corte d'Assise di Frosinone all'ergastolo.

In un altro procedimento penale, SINOMATI è accusato di essere stato uno dei principali canali di approvvigionamento di cocaina per l'organizzazione operante a Roma, guidata da MOLISSO Giuseppe insieme a BENNATO Leandro, smantellata dal Comando Provinciale dei Carabinieri di Roma attraverso un'operazione di polizia giudiziaria condotta nel marzo scorso.
Durante l'esecuzione di tale operazione, avvenuta dopo l'arresto di CALDERON per l'omicidio di SHEHAJ, SINOMATI sfuggì alla cattura, verosimilmente perché temeva di essere al centro dell'azione investigativa coordinata dalla Procura di Roma, e aveva spostato la sua base negli Emirati Arabi Uniti.

That database is used by its members to flag posted content as originating from a "terrorist group".

Their public documents show how fuzzy and messy their processes and rules are – and how dangerous for groups that authoritarian regimes love to label as "terrorist".

Some are (naively) looking forward to #Mastodon admins being able to cross-check posted media against such a database. Even when giving the benefit of the doubt, that's at best naive.

Had they actually read all the caveats and cautioning the GIFCT members are advised to take into account, they'd soon realize that Fediverse admins are not able to cope with such a task:

Try figuring out, again and again, issues like whether you as an admin should consider a group "terrorist" that was labeled as such merely by an oppressive regime.

The obvious, desperate "solution" for admins will be to shrug helplessly, and go along with banning everything that is flagged. After all, workload reduction was why they considered a hash matching solution.

As a result, establishing the GIFCT database as a "tool" for the Fediverse would ironically resemble the establishment of a "Fediverse Interpol", with a perceptual hash effectively becoming kind of a #RedNotice.

Except that #Fediverse admins, unlike resourceful Interpol member states, would be hopelessly overwhelmed by having to assess raised flags, to weigh them against their standards.

Giuseppe Palermo, noto anche come “Peppe,” ricercato con un avviso rosso dell'Interpol, è stato arrestato per strada nella capitale della Colombia, Bogotà, durante un'operazione coordinata tra le autorità colombiane, italiane e britanniche, nonché con Europol, l'agenzia di polizia dell'Unione europea.

Si ritiene che Palermo fosse il principale leader della ’ndrangheta in Sudamerica, ha dichiarato Carlos Fernando Triana, capo della polizia colombiana.

Il sospettato “non solo ha guidato l'acquisto di grandi spedizioni di cocaina in Colombia, Perù ed Ecuador, ma ha anche controllato le rotte marittime e terrestri utilizzate per trasportare la droga sui mercati europei", ha aggiunto Triana.

Secondo le Nazioni Unite, la produzione illegale di cocaina ha raggiunto le 3.708 tonnellate nel 2023, con un aumento di quasi il 34% rispetto all’anno precedente, trainato principalmente dall’espansione della coltivazione delle foglie di coca in Colombia.

Latitante in Canada, arrestato in Italia

Il fuggitivo più ricercato del Canada, Dave "Pik" Turmel, è stato arrestato in Italia.
Il 28enne, in fuga da oltre un anno, è ritenuto il capo della violenta Blood Family Mafia ("mafia della famiglia del sangue").
Si tratta di una banda di strada coinvolta in brutali conflitti tra gang in Quebec, durante le quali le vittime sono state torturate e hanno avuto arti amputati.
L'anno scorso Roobens Denis, considerato dalla polizia canadese il braccio destro di Turmel, è stato arrestato in Portogallo.

La polizia italiana ha riferito che Turmel è specializzato nella vendita di narcotici di vario genere, tra cui cocaina e metanfetamina, ed è stato "sorpreso nel suo nascondiglio" nella periferia romana dagli agenti del distretto di Roma Casilino. "Era quasi mezzanotte quando i funzionari sono entrati nella casa-vacanza dove l'uomo si era rifugiato". Secondo quanto riferito, ha consegnato un passaporto falso come identificazione e la polizia ha trovato e confiscato droga, diverse SIM-card e un'agenda. Ora è in prigione a Regina Coeli in attesa dell'estradizione. La sua presenza è stata inizialmente segnalata da un'allerta inviata alla polizia italiana dall'Interpol.

Gli agenti di polizia del Quebec avrebbero ricevuto una soffiata su Turmel negli ultimi giorni, che ha contribuito ad accelerare l'indagine per rintracciarlo in Italia. Le fonti affermano che l'informatore è stato motivato dalla ricompensa dell'offerta di 250 000 dollari per qualsiasi informazione che avesse condotto all'arresto di Turmel.
L'Interpol aveva anche emesso una red notice ("avviso rosso"): una richiesta alle forze dell'ordine in tutto il mondo per localizzare e arrestare provvisoriamente una persona in attesa di estradizione. L'estradizione potrebbe richiedere da 1 settimana a 6 mesi.
Il capo della polizia del Quebec, Denis Turcotte ha affermato: "credo che i cittadini saranno fieri di noi e continueranno a sentirsi al sicuro nella nostra città. Non puoi fare cose del genere da solo. Devi lavorare come squadra", ringraziando i partner locali e internazionali.
Ha sottolineato inioltre la creazione di un coordinatore di ricerca del fuggitivo, una posizione di impiego creata a dicembre, che ha agito come "conduttore d'orchestra" per aiutare a localizzare i latitanti, compreso Turmel.
