  1. The #Reddit Protest Is Finally Over. Reddit Won.

Honestly I feel sad that #enshittfication can’t drag user away. If Reddit can move on after these kind of things I think #TwitterX could move on as well. I feel sad that both #Twitter and #Reddit still being go-to place after this kind of #enshittfication….

I am all for these protests. But at first, most subs were only tagged as NSFW to mock him and just to be offlimits to underage users. But now, people actually use it to post NSFW content the whole time. AskReddit, AskMen, AskWomen, etc. amd a bunch of other stuff is just a bunch of NSFW content now.

  5. Steve Huffman: "Apollo threatened us, said they'll 'make it easy' if Reddit gave them $10 million. This guy behind the scenes is coercing us. He's threatening us."

Luckily, Apollo developer Christian Selig had proof that Huffman lied.

While the media coverage (and many written subreddit positions) focus on the API changes, it's the justified anger at Huffman's dishonesty that fuels many of the redditor protests.

  6. CW: reddit protests

Apparently r/interestingasfuck just became a porn subreddit, and has managed to get boobs to the top of r/all. Over half of the posts I found on the front page of r/interestingasfuck is now porn. It's becoming r/interestingassfuck instead.

If enough subreddits do this, Apple will eventually see no other outcome than removing it from the App Store due to their policy.

    This is hillarious.

reddit CEO is downplaying the current protest saying it hasn't affected them financially and it will pass soon enough,
over 8000 subreddits have gone dark, many plan to stay dark past the original date due to reddits indifferent attitude.
out of 47 subreddits with over 10-million users, only one is not dark right now.

  8. This Reddit blackout is proving my point we need to go back to forums. Trying to search an error message, first thing that pops up in Google is a Reddit post with the error message. But the sub is participating in the protest. Thankfully there is a cache. But can we PLEASE go back to using forums?

  9. I wonder how the #Reddit blackout is going…

*opens Reddit (in a private window), gets an error*

    Yep.

  10. Incredible watching all the subreddits go dark. Over 5000 of the top subreddits have now been made private. You can watch it in real-time here: reddark.untone.uk/

  11. TIL #redditprotest aka the thing I have been doing for a decade+.

I even met the first two founders and then the third founder back at YC HQ almost two decades ago.

    How was that? Underwhelming AF.

I think the geek-to-CEO path more often than not goes terribly wrong.
