It's truly disheartening to see no real conversations happening in the #MTB community about what we as the intended audience for these events should do in the face of organizers putting the athletes we admire into lethal danger to mine advertising revenue.
I personally will not be watching any #Redbull events until real changes are made to the scoring incentives of #Rampage and more time is given to riders and dig crews to polish and practice their lines so they aren't exhausted come finals.

The problem of course is not with men being stupid when it comes to risk assessment (although there is certainly that factor involved), but the scoring incentives of the #Redbull #Rampage format itself, where putting yourself into dangerous situations will score you more points.
Even further up the chain, this seems to be an epidemic in American sports and their viewership in general, where personal risk and injury attracts audiences to watch the inevitable trainwrecks.

Rewatched the 2025 edition of #RedBull #Rampage #freeride #MTB recording a couple days ago and I've been having thoughts:
1) Love it that the women have progressed onto these big mountain stages and for the most part show a great style and control on such dangerous terrain.
2) OTOH, the men need to severely rethink how dimwitted it is to yeet yourself off a 30 meter cliff with inches separating a clean line from death for a mountainbike gameshow hosted by a caffeinated soft drinks company.
