  1. Downloaded #PingPlotter to monitor what is happening with my #ATT / #QuantumFiber / #CenturyLink fiber service, and wow, is #LumenTech (the part of CenturyLink that didn't go to AT&T) really losing 85-90% of packets between Portland and Seattle?

  2. After CenturyLink/QuantumFiber/AT&T replaced our fiber terminal, and I replaced our wi-fi router, things seem to have gotten a bit more stable.

However, we are still having these occasional slowdowns for around 30 seconds, where everything becomes choppy and latency jumps up.

I just captured one that lasted 36 seconds, so I know I am not imagining it. I just wish the fiber company had any idea what was going on.

  3. Kinda ticked off to find out #att just bought #quantumfiber. The only reliable provider in my area which makes #resistandunsubscribe difficult if not impossible in this house. Yet another reason utilities should be switchable.

  4. What's old is new again... Funny how all the parts of Ma Bell slowly but surely make their way back... 🤔

My account was was originally under Qwest, then CenturyLink, then Quantum Fiber, now Quantum Fiber from AT&T.

  5. Anyone who had #CenturyLink fiber should be careful when contacting #QuantumFiber tech support.

I've been having daily 30 second connection issues for over a year now, so I finally got fed up and contacted support. However, that caused them to migrate my account somehow, and now I have no internet at all, and it might not come back for 48 hours.

My wife is not exactly happy with me right now.

  6. Me: Hello. How much is a static IP?
    #QuantumFiber: What's that?
Me: ... Can I please talk with someone who knows more about networking?

I mean, to me, understanding IP terminology is a low bar for tech support for an ISP.

  7. Total hold time. 5 hours. Wouldn’t give a refund but offered a free month’s service.

What a joke of a service.

Zero other option to cancel service. No email. No chat. Call and wait on hold. For hours.

  8. Oof. Quantum Fiber (CenturyLink) is some bullshit.

Signed up for their 1g up/down plan. $75/mo. No contract.
    8/1 install. Works well
8/14 it craps out. Reboot no joy.
hop in the online chat for 2 hours (half that was the online queue). Do a factory reset. No joy.
Tech assures me we have an appt the 16th.
Get the confirmation email. Appt is 8/26
Go online to chat again. “Sorry you’re SOL. 26th is the soonest.

To cancel service, you have to call. Hold time so far…. 3 hours.

  9. How Not to Canvass.

I noticed a couple of canvassers yesterday, so I inquired of the redhead (very Jesse's Girl) this afternoon. She didn't know what canvassing or the ACP were. She was wearing CenturyLink livery (!), which she said had just been bought out by #QuantumFiber. No promotional material; said to deal with her and not the "store".

  10. Saw the #QuantumFiber truck in my neighborhood the other day. Looks like they were working with #Centurylink . Hope they were dropping new fiber. I would love there to be a fiber internet option in my neighborhood. Comcast has been pretty stable for us. We don't experience the problems most others do. But they charge an arm and a leg for what we got, and Quantum would charge just over half what Comcast wants and it would be symmetrical.
