Hangover from the past - I noticed #ITV #news are still using 3 letter region codes for some stills photos on their website (especially where they originate from news footage) - for instance ANG for Anglia, MER for Meridian, CEN for Central, WWC for West / West Country, WAL for ITV Wales, and YTV for Calendar (which curiously isn't branded with the regional name!)
A lot of other stills are however direct from emergency services / social media / families without any ITV news crew being involved, London gets a lot (or all of them?) from PA (Press Association - they might do a lot of the video as well), not even sure if ITV London *have* a news team any more since LNN (London News Network folded in the 2000s!)
