La Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) activó de inmediato un fondo de emergencia de 15 millones de dólares, y más de 1,600 rescatistas internacionales ya están en el terreno trabajando día y noche.

Today, the news speaks not only of destruction but also of hope, solidarity, and unity. Humanitarian aid has begun arriving at Venezuelan airports from all corners of the globe. Es profundamente conmovedor ver a médicos, bomberos y especialistas extranjeros trabajando hombro a hombro con la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS) y con nuestros propios voluntarios y civiles en Caracas, La Guaira y Yaracuy.

It is deeply moving to see foreign doctors, firefighters, and specialists working shoulder to shoulder with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and our own volunteers and civilians in Caracas, La Guaira, and Yaracuy.

Las banderas que hoy vemos en las calles afectadas no son una muestra de fronteras, sino de puentes de amor. Cada caja de medicinas, cada rescatista que arriesga su vida entre los escombros y cada mensaje de apoyo nos recuerda que el mundo abraza a Venezuela.

The flags we see today in the affected streets do not represent borders, but rather bridges of love. Every box of medicine, every rescuer risking their life amidst the rubble, and every message of support reminds us that the world embraces Venezuela.

Más allá de los aviones, las cajas de suministros y los equipos de rescate, hay una fuerza invisible pero indestructible que sostiene a nuestro país en este momento. Si algo nos queda claro en medio de esta prueba, es que Dios tampoco nos deja solos.

Él no nos ha abandonado. He has not abandoned us. His love and comfort are made tangible today in the embrace of a neighbor, the courage of our firefighters, and the astonishing generosity of so many nations that have crossed oceans to help us. God is working miracles through every rescuer, every doctor, and every prayer offered up for our land from every corner of the globe.

La Biblia nos recuerda en el Salmo 46:1: “Dios es nuestro amparo y nuestra fortaleza, nuestro pronto auxilio en las tribulaciones”. Y hoy, esa promesa se cumple al ver que, cuando nos faltaron las fuerzas, Él movilizó al planeta entero para levantarnos.

Mexico: “Luy” recibe reconocimiento por su ardua labor como caricaturista

The auditorium of the Mexican Sports Confederation facilities was the venue for the presentation of the «Scroll to Freedom of Expression» awards and the «Francisco Villa» medal, by Grupo Radiofónico y Medios, and the Federation of Journalists in Defense of Freedom of Expression, where the cartoonist Oscar Manuel Rodríguez Ochoa, who signs as «Luy», a contributor to various media outlets in Mexico City and the interior of the country, received them grateful to be in the work to which he has dedicated his life enjoying the art of drawing.

El auditorio de las instalaciones de la Confederación Deportiva Mexicana, fue el espacio de la entrega de reconocimientos denominado “Pergamino a la Libertad de Expresión” y la medalla “Francisco Villa”, por parte de Grupo Radiofónico y Medios, y la Federación de Periodistas en Defensa de la Libertad de Expresión, donde el caricaturista Oscar Manuel Rodríguez Ochoa, quien firma como “Luy”, colaborador de distintos medios en la Ciudad de México y el interior del país, los recibió agradecido de estar en el trabajo al que ha dedicado su vida disfrutando de los trazos.

In a festive atmosphere that brings the profession together every year, investigative journalist and independent reporter Yohali Resendiz touched a nerve and, in a way, shook things up with her realistic speech: “We are a profoundly powerful profession; we have the capacity to expose abuses, tell stories that transform lives, and point out what others would like to hide. But we are also—it must be said—a deeply divided profession. We live chasing after the news. We compete. We argue. We become divided. Sometimes we even forget that, on the other side of a camera, a notebook, or a microphone, there is someone facing the same pressures, risks, and uncertainties. Behind every edition lies time, effort, and the conviction that it is worthwhile to stop for a moment to look at each other and recognize the work of those who go out every day to tell the truth. And how much this is needed in this country. The violence of abandonment is that of journalists who dedicated entire decades to a company, radio station, newspaper, or television channel and who one day discover that They are no longer needed. After dedicating their best years, early mornings, reporting in the rain, sacrificing time with family, canceling vacations, and making their greatest efforts, they are replaced with brutal ease, as if they were disposable journalists. As if experience didn’t matter… Because journalism has never been just a job for those of us here, but a way of seeing the world. A responsibility.”

En un ambiente festivo que reúne cada año al gremio, la colega de investigación y periodista independiente Yohali Resendiz, tocó fibras sensibles y de alguna manera cimbró con su discurso lleno de realidad: “Somos un gremio profundamente poderoso, tenemos la capacidad de exhibir abusos, contar historias que transforman vidas, señalar aquello que otros quisieran ocultar. Pero también somos, -hay que decirlo-, un gremio profundamente desunido. Vivimos corriendo detrás de la noticia. Competimos. Discutimos. Nos dividimos. A veces incluso olvidamos que, del otro lado de una cámara, una libreta o un micrófono, hay alguien que enfrenta las mismas presiones, los riesgos y las incertidumbres. Detrás de cada edición hay tiempo, esfuerzo y la convicción de que vale la pena detenernos un momento para mirarnos y reconocer el trabajo de quienes todos los días salen a contar la realidad. Y vaya que hace falta en este país. La violencia del abandono es la de los periodistas que entregaron décadas enteras a una empresa, estación de radio, a un periódico o a un canal de televisión y que un día descubren que ya no son necesarios. Que después de dedicar sus mejores años, madrugadas, coberturas bajo la lluvia, sus ausencias familiares, sus vacaciones canceladas y sus esfuerzos más grandes, son reemplazados con una facilidad brutal, como si fueran periodistas desechables. Como si la experiencia no importara…Porque el periodismo nunca ha sido solo un empleo para quienes estamos aquí, sino una forma de mirar el mundo. Una responsabilidad.”
