Please enjoy these views taken during the Gänseliesel ceremony in Göttingen on July 24, when IMPRS graduates Prithwitosh Dey, Ilse de Langen, Neelanchal Joshi and Sanghita Chandra went to kiss the goose girl statue atop the fountain on Göttingen's central market square.
A Gänseliesel ceremony afternoon begins with a highly official part in the university's classical Aula building. Upon exiting, advisers put the fancy German doctoral hat on their graduate's head, then the graduates are transported from the Aula to the Gänseliesel fountain in wildly decorated doctoral carts. There the new doctors wait in line to climb the fountain, bring flowers and kiss the goose girl statue.
This unique Göttingen tradition concluded the PhD journey for these four IMPRS graduates, so #PhDcongratulations again!
