Jupiter ist der größte Planet im Sonnensystem; seine Wolkenwirbel und -bänder geben uns Rätsel auf. Unter Eisschichten verbergen seine Monde Europa und Ganymed Ozeane, in denen sich Leben entwickelt haben könnte. Das MPS stellt Weltrauminstrumente vor, die an Bord der Raumsonde JUICE auf dem Weg zum Jupiter sind. Mit Wolkenwirbeln in Mitmachexperimenten.

First images of the Sun's south pole!
Solar Orbiter is the first space probe to look at the Sun's poles – and finds the magnetic field there in a state of turmoil. The Sun's magnetic field is currently undergoing a flip. During its latest flyby of the Sun at the end of March this year, the Solar Orbiter space probe had its first clear view of our star's poles. First images:

As a software engineer you will join a team tasked with the design and implementation of software for the control of scientific experiments in space conditions and related analysis software.
Your Qualification
• University degree (Bachelor, Master or equivalent) in the areas of informatics, information technology, or related fields
• Strong command of the C or C++ programming language
• Experience in the development of concurrent software systems
• Familiarity with Linux or Windows operating systems for software development
• Strong physical and technical comprehension
• Willingness to participate in international business tripsAdvantageous would be experience with/knowledge of
• Embedded systems based on LEON3 processors
• RTEMS operating system
• C++ library ACE
• The processes of software development according to ECSSAdditional Information
The full-time position is to be filled as soon as possible and limited for 2 years, with the possibility of extension. The remuneration will be in accordance with TVöD-Bund up to EG 13, if the objective and subjective classification requirements are met. This will be assessed separately on the basis of the respective professional qualifications and previous professional experience and should not necessarily be expected.

A new study involving #MPSGoettingen scientists has analyzed spectroscopic data of #Jupiter's atmosphere recorded by #Herschel. These provide new insights into the trace element composition and its D/H ratio.
