I’m guessing that since I’ve been up for 2 hours now and I’m on the third cup of strong coffee, perhaps breakfast is in order. At least, I may just weasel out of work and open the fridge to get my half sandwiches of peanut butter and banana, or the peanut butter with fresh rhubarb sauce. The guys asked for the boring peanut butter with grape jelly on white bread.
Meanwhile I chose thin-sliced but a whole grain bread loaded with grains, nuts and seeds. Oh my, I was eating as nutritional a food as any I readily have available. And so filling. Peanut Butter Alert for Your Pets
A new type of peanut butter (and other nut butters) is being sold with less sugar, but now includes xylitol as a sweetener. That is what is being used in sugarless gum and it can be deadly to dogs. Many people use peanut butter as a dog treat, or to fill a Kong, or disguise medications; if they now use the type with xylitol, it could be very dangerous.

Apparently it can trigger hypoglycemia in dogs which then leads to vomiting followed by decreased activity, weakness, staggering, incoordination, collapse and seizures. Untreated, it can be fatal.
