  1. People really flocking to buy Bluey cereal for their children? Did they not notice that the color of this in a bowl with milk has got to be visually dreadful? If there was no colorful beloved cartoon character in the packaging, I fail to believe anyone would buy it.

The ingredients alone are not enticing. The lack of other “bad” common ingredients is also not encouraging. Oh well, a $4 large box of cereal does have a good price point.

  4. It is dangerous to go into the US2U store when you are an American immigrant now 18 yrs in New Zealand. You are nostalgia-buying things, grabbing a little snack of memories.

Those peanut butter cheese crackers Dad used to buy when he'd take me out surveying with him.

The red vines my college roomate had a massive container of freshman year and we'd all eat way too many during study sessions.

The wheat thins my health-nut parents always had in the pantry that taste like home. I hand one to my kid like I'm passing on some important piece of heritage and they are just like "um, tastes like a cracker."

  5. If you're outside the United States, here's what Super Bowl Sunday actually is:

Technically: The championship game of American football.

Practically: America's second-biggest eating day after Thanksgiving.

The food is all finger food — wings, nachos, sliders, pizza, dips. Guests graze for hours. No forks allowed.

Think of it as a winter barbecue with a game playing in the background.
