The Book of Ruth in the Old Testament is the story of three women. Naomi marries a man and has two sons, and the two sons marry Ruth and Orpah. Then all the men die. They were only introduced as a patriarchal veneer. (The sons names, Mahlon and Kilion, roughly translate as 'sickly' and 'deathly').

The sisterly and motherly relations between the women are the main story. Naomi wishes to go home to Israel, and tells her daughters-in-law to turn back and go to their clans. Orpah complies (her name means nape of the neck), but Ruth says she will follow Naomi: "Your people shall be my people, and your God my God". These days, converting to Judaism is much more complex.

Naomi ultimately helps Ruth bag a nice Jewish boy. They get married, and Ruth goes on to be an ancestor of King David. (Back to men at the end of the story, so it will be suitable for the patriarchal bible.)

  2. I've linked an amazingly cogent article that describes why I am not only a #feminist, but why I rail against #genderism
#racism, and all -isms that tell people they have to be/do something against their will. The fight against coercive forces are a theme of most of my stories.

It discusses a panoply of issues and why people think that way. Spoiler: It's all about power over other people, and maintaining it for a few who consider themselves deserving or better than you. And it isn't surprising they are willing to use violence to get that power and keep it. Look at the wars in the last two centuries. Look deeper at the anthropological discoveries of the roots of our patriarchal civilization. Violence and power. Lots of dead people.

It important to understand what is as a way to help maintain progress when they try to con us.
