Made a rambling blog post about Mario Maker, troll levels and open-endedness! :D

Behold! A strange thing that I though I was doing in a cool way but after finishing I noticed it didnt make sense but still cool to see it anyway!
Reddy things have more possible states to be in than green thingys. Colorfull thingys may spawn white thingys that can turn into colorful thingys. Colorfull thingys can idle, eat or spawn white thingys. They eat from the void!

We (me, Lisa Soros, Alyssa M Adams; via Cross Labs) wrote a blog post on open-endedness and subjectivity, and why even when we make artificial open-ended systems, they don't always grab or keep our interest.

Interesting dynamics of inference... Imagine a coin flip process, except you entertain hypotheses that after 1,2,3,...,K flips the sequence will repeat. This is the distribution of predictions that the next flip will be tails as you observe more and more for K=1000. #OpenEndedness #Bayesian #Inference

Inspired by recent readings on #OpenEndedness in AI:
#Nietzsche's #philosophy is often linked to discussions around #transhumanism, but the extent to which this connection is justified hinges centrally on how we understand his concept of #SelfOvercoming.
One lesson to be learnt here can be drawn upon the movie Her. In that story, AI extension actually becomes self *reinforcing* for humans and it is only the AIs them-'selves' who discover true self-overcoming.
Caveat emptor, transhumanists!

What's the equivalent of an addictive gatcha game for scientific study? Both specifics, but also 'what sort of object makes sense as an answer to this kind of question?'. Lets say I have an active inference agent following Schmidhuber-style compression progress - are there signals it keeps going back to even though it's already seen them? Is that the right kind of object? #alife #openendedness
