  1. B.C. and Ontario have enacted laws that extend some protections to gig workers, and platform giants like Uber and DoorDash appear to be lobbying to keep similar policies from being adopted in other provinces. #bclab #onlab

  2. Did you know that nearly half of working Canadians say their job is the most stressful part of their daily lives? 7 in 10 workers are worried about the psychological health and safety of their work. Burnout, chronic stress, harassment. This isn’t normal, and it isn’t OK. Just remember: it isn’t just you, and it isn’t “just part of the job.” Canada’s unions have your back, and we’re fighting to fix things.

  3. cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/lcb I hope that someone will clue in the #LCBO management that a return to work protocol is pretty universal when strikes are resolved. Or maybe some genius punk in the Ford government ordered them to do this to cause grief for #OPSEU - Ontario Cons are hopeless when it comes to #OnLab relations. I figure the LCBO leadership is probably happy to appear stupid and vindictive to please Ford.

  4. How does Ford's government treat actors who stand up for their rights?

By ignoring their concerns and hiring non-unionized talent on the side.

Stop ignoring @ACTRAToronto workers. Enough is enough.

  5. Injured Workers’ Bill of Rights

Every day in Ontario, workers are injured or made ill on the job. All too often, these workers must battle within a workers’ compensation system that was built to support them but fails to meet their needs. This unjust process is unacceptable for injured workers who are simply seeking the compensation and benefits they are owed. Learn more and sign the petition here:

The @OntarioNDP and I will continue fighting by your side to keep our health care and education systems public and create good union jobs and safe workplaces.

  8. @JILLSLASTWORD: And it's still not enough. "Even after this 6.8% raise, a full-time minimum wage worker in the GTA will still be short by $260 a week in trying to make ends meet." Thanks, Ford! #ONPoli #ONLab

  9. Check out this from the Ford klan. I suppose they don’t have a choice but to say something on #LabourDay, but the complete hypocrisy of this statement is disguising. #UnfitForOffice #NeverVoteConservative #ONpoli #ONlab #workers

Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, issued the following statement to mark Labour Day:

“Every Labour Day, we pay tribute to the hardworking people who are building a stronger Ontario.

    Workers are the backbone …

    > Metro has been granted a temporary injunction to restrict pickets by its striking workers at distribution warehouses in Toronto.

  11. "There remains a chance that the Ford government might appeal the decision. If there’s one thing on which Liberal and Conservative governments in Ontario can agree, it’s attacking union members’ rights."
