#OnePlaceAdvent: painting. Did you know that for several years, #Dunster was home to the artist Edward Bearne? His wife Catherine was an accomplished author. Below is a selection of Edward Bearne’s work. He painted in watercolours and oil, and exhibited at the Royal Academy on several occasions, winning the Turner medal. Bearne died in Dunster on 16 April 1913.

#OnePlaceAdvent: food…apples & cider! The word “wassail” is said to come from ‘Waes hael’, a Saxon expression meaning good health. Wassailers sing & make noise in orchards to scare away evil spirits & awaken the apple trees to ensure a plentiful harvest. Article is from 1938 #Dunster
