CW: Odroid HC4: Armbian / Debian Bookworm zu Trixie
Hat auch nach Standardprozedur geklappt. Die von Nextcloud gewünschten PHP-Module mussten allerdings händisch nachinstalliert werden. Nextcloud war nach dem Upgrade erst einmal nicht erreichbar, das nicht durchgeführte 'a2enconf php8.4-fpm' war das Problem – danach lief wieder alles. 👍

Today i finally upgraded my second #odroidhc4 with #armbian to #trixie as well.
This device runs a bare armbian with the tech stack required for #nextcloud (Apache2, PHP, MariaDB, Valkey).
The device is pretty fast given the low-power ARM SoC and works absolutely fine for my 5 user nextcloud instance. -
Upgraded my #openmediavault nas (on #odroidhc4 with #armbian) from OMV 7 to 8. This includes an update from Debian Bookworm to Trixie.
All i had to do was running 'omv-release-upgrade', wait a few minutes and reboot. Of course i made a backup image of the system sd card before.
I think upgrading OMV has never been so easy. -
Forgot to mention: both #odroidhc4 I'm using are running #armbian - the other one acting as my nas with #openmediavault on top.
So far i'm really pleased with the expirience and performance of this devices. -
Today i moved my private #Nextcloud instance from an oldish quad core Atom Z8350 with 4 GB RAM to an #OdroidHC4 with an oldish quad core ARM Cortex-A55 with 4 GB RAM - and it now feels a lot faster.
Not sure if this is only due to the SSDs being attached via SATA now instead of USB3 or if the ARM-cores have some sort of hardware acceleration for TLS encryption that is missing on the Atoms.
Anyway both installation run a rather basic #Debian #Bookworm install - it's pretty easy to setup a small bare metall installation, no need for fancy stuff like containers to get your nextcloud instance up and running. And by doing a manual install you additionally learn a bit about how things are working.
Glad i finally made the move. -
