If anyone cares about the future of the #NSW #Libs, and I do, for reasons I’ll outline below, here is some advice that should be taken seriously:
“…the right [-wing of the NSW liberal party] may now control branches through these stacking activities will undercut that message.
The South Australian and Western Australian Liberal parties have already seen takeovers by religiously aligned rightwing cooperatives. The result has been they have been reduced to a handful of seats in their state parliaments.
The NSW Liberals would be well advised to look at those examples and deal with the aftermath of the stacking as soon as possible.”
I want the State’s Liberal Party to come back to its small *L* liberal roots and push #NSWLabor back to the left were it ought to be, working for the workers of NSW and not the *bosses*.

TIL about Parliamentary powers to Order Documents be produced (OPD) from the govt. The NSW’s Premier doesn’t like it, apparently. There’s a lot he doesn’t like, protests for instance, or transparency, and even free speach. He’s a peculiar one this one. He’d fit in well as a Liberal Premier.

[edited to correct Eddy’s surname]
Eddy Jokovich just about captures the reasons that I parted ways from #NSWLabor and highlights some of the things that need to change before I reconsider my decision, if at all.
“The conference also exposed Labor’s increasingly difficult balancing act, where many delegates demanded stronger action on gambling reform, improvements in civil liberties, and housing reforms, while the leaders continued to highlight caution, discipline and incremental change. Truly inspirational stuff. Government has become an exercise in managing vested interests without disturbing the traditional centres of economic and political power, and conferences like this show that there’s unlikely to be any change in this position.”

Chris Minns, NSW Premier: "for the sake of Social Cohesion™, we're inviting a wanted war criminal from a rogue state to visit, granting police extraordinary emergency powers to forcefully suppress the expression of non-approved messages in non-approved locations, and installing extra Social Cohesion™ fences and barriers in the middle of the city. In order to ensure maximum Social Cohesion™ please don't come into the city, and if you do, then disobeying the instructions of one of the 3,000 Social Cohesion™ officers will result in a $5,000 fine. This is for your own good. You will cohere, or else."

@sister_ratched Oh yes, that's been clear for a while.
The #LECC (police 'watchdog') is still massively underfunded (to the point of being able to investigate a whopping 1.4% of all the complaints made), the NSW Police Commissioner is still paid more than the PM, and none of the Coalition's anti-protest laws that contribute to the #CriminalisationOfDissent have been repealed, so no roses for #NSWLabor government there.

#GuardianAustralia, typically the best of a terrible lot amongst mainstream #AustralianMedia when it comes to reporting on issues of #justice & planetary crises, is still fundamentally a pro-capitalist organisation.
Today's snapshots:
An article on how #NSWLabor government under #ChrisMinns is considering expanding #coal subsidies that doesn't mention the fact that these are direct subsidies to the coal industry at a time of soaring profits due to Putin's war in Ukraine. Unmentioned: the "cap" on prices is accompanied by the government stepping in to pay coal companies for the gap between sky-high international coal prices & the cap on what local consumers pay for electricity. The article quotes the head of the coal lobby (former chief of staff to #MikeBaird btw) but no voices critical of the policy.
#nswpol- https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/jul/26/house-prices-australia-sydney-rebound-growth
An article reporting on the worsening of the #HousingAffordability crisis framed exclusively in positive language (growth, rebound, recovery, clawed back lost value, recouping, revival, best (=highest)). Senior figure in property market quoted extensively. #auspol -
@kentparkstreet I think the only reason he ‘aplogised’ is to thwart being outed. Either way, the election is lost. Don’t stuff it up #NSWLabor
