"the more 'communist' the sharing license used in digital commons, the more capitalist the practice" (Michel Bauwens)

Reminder of how (A)GPL/SSPL licenses paradoxically foster companies via dual-licensing.
Soon I will share solutions to this 🩷

  4. There are always tradeoffs.

The art of the tradeoff here is reducing problemicity while getting priorities reasonably straight.

And yes, determining the right value of reasonably is a big part of that art.

    > the entire theory that markets should be allowed to make decisions (instead of people in the form of government intervening with a heavy hand)

... is indeed imperfect, but getting _governments_ to make good decisions is _very_ hard.
Typically they do no better than markets (and some much worse) _unless_ the people are smart and energetic enough to exert constant pressure on said governments and _that_ is a rarity.

My (not so humble) opinion, of course.

  8. @Kanekotic I think many of the (good) lessons from #agile software development did not transfer well to the wider domain of #project delivery.

  9. RIP Fred Brooks en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Bro

Very influential figure. No Silver Bullet (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Silve) and The Mythical Man-Month are quoted and referenced constantly.

Beyond that, people say and have said very nice things about the man.

  10. @TheGibson @tek absolutely true. So we're in a #NoSilverBullet situation, aren't we.

So I'll keep running docker containers and consider them an improvement on security of the systems we're running, even though they are not a security boundary. :)

One thing they help with is defining the interfaces very well. Unless you're doing something completely insane (volume-mount / into the container, etc), you can't get away with being sloppy about this.
