#VPN ist eine neutrale Technologie und kein Schlangenöl. Richtig angewendet ist sie sehr sinnvoll.

Aber fast alle VPN-Dienst-Anbieter sind Schlangenöl-Händler, weil sie falsche Werbeversprechen machen. Z.B. verspricht #NordVPN Sicherheit und Privatsphäre. Wer sich auskennt, weiß, dass die Sicherheit sinkt, wenn irgendwo "KI" eingebaut wird. (Ich beziehe mich auf die Abbildung, die ich eben von nordvpn.de runtergeladen habe.) Auch gibt es nur wenige Situationen, in denen ein VPN die Privatsphäre verbessert. Eine solche Situation ist ein Hotel-WLAN. Aber auch da würde ich VPN nicht nutzen, um mich mit einer unseriösen Bude wie NordVPN zu verbinden, sondern um mich mit meiner Fritzbox zuhause oder dem Netzwerk meiner Firma zu verbinden.

Ihr habt ja recht begeistert von der Reise in die Ukraine in einem Tross aus Brüssel berichtet. An dem nur teilnehmen durfte, wer vom Pressebüro der Europäischen Kommission eingeladen wurde. Ist das eigentlich schon #embeddedJournalism, habe ich mich gefragt. Würdet ihr das als solchen bezeichnen? Warum (nicht)?

Wenn ich schon mal einen Hörerbrief schreibe, dann hätte ich gleich ein zweites Thema. Ihr sprecht ja eure Werbung selbst ein. Dadurch – und weil ihr inhaltliche Bezüge herstellt – entsteht der Eindruck, dass ihr euch inhaltlich damit auseinandergesetzt habt (auch wenn ihr auf eurer Website das Gegenteil behauptet). Warum macht ihr dann Werbung für #Schlangenöl wie die Produkte von #NordVPN? Es gibt ja auch seriöse Firmen, die inhaltlich passen würden, z.B. @mailbox_org.

Im Moment sind bei mir die Tage der verstärkten #DigitalenSouveränität. Auch wenn es schwierig und mit Komfortverlusten verbunden ist. MS-Office ist raus > #LibreOffice, Browser: Konsequent #Firefox, oder #Vivaldi, Suchmaschine: #Startpage oder #Ecosia. Konsequenter VPN-Einsatz > #NordVPN. Instagram Konto gelöscht. Lightroom gefeuert > Digicam.de, Darktable. Aber auch: Apple Geräte bleiben! iCloud allerdings mit erweiterter Datenschutz = Verschlüsselung der meisten Inhalte. Bleibt spannend.

Jeg skiftede i går fra #NordVPN til #mullvadVPN og ville have VPN til at virke på #sailfishos ....VPN skal her tilføjes som en tjeneste, ikke med app.
Mullvad bruger wireguard protokollen, og den er ikke mulig at vælge i seneste version af OS. (Tampella 5.0.0.55).
Den kan så tilføjes via terminal, så det har jeg gjort! Jeg kan godt finde ud af at kopiere kommandoer til min terminal på min PC (men forstår INTET af hvad jeg laver), men at jeg nu har siddet og installeret en funktion på min mobil via terminalen.....det er vildt for mig. #danskertrut #danmarkskifter

@mookie Yeah, basically. I turned my #NordVPN off too.

Not sure I needed to turn everything off but I was frustrated & just decided to do that to see if it would fix the problem or not. It did.

Turns out that the Win11 antivirus program was activated automatically when the two 3rd party antivirus programs were deleted. So, the computer wasn't entirely vulnerable.

Didn't need the other 2 programs anyway -- McAfee & Avira -- since Win11 already has one but I'm not sure how robust it is.

Will have to look into that.

Didn't access the Net elsewhere after downloading & installing the program. So, if any viruses or malware were installed #Intuit had to do it.

Ran a quick Win11 antivirus scan after I turned Nord & the firewall back on & nothing came up.

So, I assume everything's ok but, like I said, before, it shouldn't have been that difficult to install the program. 🤷‍♂️

NordVPN is the Starbucks of privacy: it is everywhere, too expensive for what you get, and bad for you.

If you are considering it after a YouTube creator told you about it, consider a better alternative like @mullvadnet , @ivpn , Proton VPN, or Windscribe. Explore your options before you hand over your credit card.
