  1. @openfuture

    Hmm.
If we keep the billions of euros that social media generates on our continent every year
and circulate that revenue in our own thriving business ecosystem, then we can
    - feed local jobs / boost FLOSS community
    - create European Social Stack
    - fix Public Interest Infrastructure
    - …

    —as discussed at #opensocial #opensocialweb #noaw #fediforum #fosdem etc.. etc..
    (great work again, aditya! tnx!)

  6. The Digital Commons: The Ground We Already Stand On

At #NOAW event I talked a lot about the digital commons so thought it might be useful to write a post grounding this. The digital commons are not a future vision, it’s something we already have. At its simplest, the digital commons are the widely used #4opens digital resources of software, knowledge, data, and culture created collectively, governed by communities, and made available for public (re)use. This is the native path of the #openweb it's been around for a long time, it might be […]

  9. Thinking of workshops to run at “Nodes On A Web” #NOAW unconference

Hamish Campbell is a long-time #openweb activist and technologist working on grassroots media and digital commons. He was involved in the early development of #Indymedia and continues this work through projects like the Open Media Network (#OMN), which works on how federated tools and community publishing supports public-interest media infrastructure. His focus is balancing building native platforms and on growing the social culture that makes the #openweb work: transparency, […]

  11. I will be at Nodes on a Web from @FediVariety next week, so now is the perfect time to finally add multilingual support to the Mastodon list. This website aggregates daily lists of Mastodon accounts based on Wikidata queries and daily Mastodon meta numbers in different categories.
In total, there are 22 lists on this website: mastodon-listen.playground.54g.

There are five new lists specific to the Netherlands:
    1) 22 non-profit organisations with a total of 14,387 toots and 55,381 followers: mastodon-listen.playground.54g
    2) 18 state authorities with a total of 16,333 toots: mastodon-listen.playground.54g
    3) 16 research institutions with a total of 5,099 toots: mastodon-listen.playground.54g
    4) Three universities and colleges: mastodon-listen.playground.54g
    5) Three cities and municipalities: mastodon-listen.playground.54g

The software is open source and you can find the project here: github.com/54GradSoftware/play.
Feedback, pull requests and Wikibase queries for new lists are welcome. If you are at the conference, please say 'Moin'. (1/2)
