Got the #Miata out Saturday; today is sunny if not still cool (4C -> 14C) at YYT ~~ good enough to be able to go for a little boot.
I was hoping to do the ECU this year but this might be another summer of just the basics.. thanks, #inflation. And the cost of dentistry. Kids. Etc.

Looks like maybe a bit under 20 cm down. ~15 cm to go followed by ~6 mm rain according to the forecast.
Not actually wet and heavy: the snow is light and fine, blowing everywhere with moderate drifting.

Roads are only now starting to be plowed; white out conditions and snow over ice. Had some time getting out of DT. Hardly anything moving except AWD/4WD, even then some stuck in drifts. Yikes!

Early morning yet, overnight snow accumulations are more than I expected. Peak per-hr accumulation should be right now... but snowfalls will continue through Tuesday, upto 50cm expected with strong winds (>100km/h). Wet.. heavy.. snow.

Sloppy, wet, heavy, snowblower clogging snow piled a mile high at the driveway foot, full of ice chunks, in the misty morning fog.
Took 2-3 hours and a full tank of gas to clear this morn. Prob be a sore fella this evening.

Fence is still there. Power outages spreading, including NE side of town. Flights obviously cancelled, so are ferries.

There is an oiler in port, sitting quite high in the water. I presume this means the Irving tanks up high on the southside hills are now full.
With the replenished salt mountain at the Harvey wharf, and all the Coast Guard boats now out of drydock and onto the water, it is no trouble to tell winter is approaching.

Oh drat, with high winds across the island (#Newfoundland) shutting down ferries and stranding flights (including UA23, a 777 from Newark to Dublin which diverted to #YYT)...
A container ship, 'MSC Baltic III' (2500 TEU, ~200m), has grounded off Lark Harbour, just outside Corner Brook.
#CCG are responding, but this boat is probably there until weather improves.

Monthly and all-time records were set today in Atlantic Canada, just above 35°C at Terra Nova Natl Park and Saint John airport (both all-time record highs). Chevery, QC also jumped to all-time high of 32.7° (data since 1990s) with the afternoon windshift.

Half nice morning shaping up in St. John's, though not to last - there are winter storm and storm surge warnings, 30-50cm forecast, 80km/h winds, persisting through Thursday and potentially into Fri. Temps of -1 to 1C so could intermix with rain.
