    Video showing Nelson's Pillar in Dublin before and after it was blown up by a concerned citizen of Ireland. The Irish Army blew up the remainder... and the frontage of a nearby shoe shop (vids available). Three songs about these events made it into the Irish pop charts shortly afterwards. My fave is Nelson's Farewell by the Dubliners, who went on tour with a full size replica of the statue's head and occasionally, if rumour is to be believed, the actual missing head, lmao. 🎉
