Out and about today—heading, incidentally, to GM Marzio Muscedere’s “Murder House!” for #DCCRPG for my monthly F2F #TTRPG meetup.
I was on the front line for #OpalCard’s teething problems, and let me tell you, as finicky and unworkable a piece of shit *that* was when Sydney rolled it out, it has nothing on #MyWayPlus. At least charging and validation worked, even if commuters couldn’t understand the fare structure.
I can’t even convince MyWay+ to tap me on.

Public transport fare increase from today by 2.75%

9 days interruption to MyWay+ feed for 3rd party apps all because of an expired SSL cert. Wtaf. Why wasn't this resolved during the week?!

From Friday the 12th, it will be free to use buses and lightrail from 6pm Fridays and 6pm Saturdays until the end of February.

This is a concerning interaction. But the bigger issue is that we have spent a lot of funds deploying a new ticketing and real-time time information system. Transport Canberra should have the ability to flag a service as cancelled, so users accessing transit information can see this. The fact that this is either not an option, or isn't being used as such is disappointing and a reason why some people will continue to not use transit.

Chris Steel was censured regarding the MyWay+ rollout after the report from the committee was tabled in the assembly. Greens MLA Andrew Braddock moved the motion.
Canberra Liberals leader Leanne Castley threatened future censure motions if CM Andrew Barr did not keep his ministers accountable.
-
I am not surprised at all that the committee found that the community testing of MyWay+ was meaningless in terms of its impact on the project. I am speaking from a place as someone who was part of that testing.

MyWay+ data seems to be live in the Transit App.

Canberra’s public transport is a mess. Just some of the issues.
- last week I caught 5 buses, only 2 had working Myway+. We are paying for a revenue collection system that doesn’t collect revenue.
- timetables at interchanges not updated to new schedule from changes in May 2025
- screens and announcements on buses not working all the time
- some buses don’t have realtime data.
- real time data inaccurate by up to 5 minutes.*
- QR code doesn’t work in bright conditions
- occasionally QR reader triggers NFC resulting in incorrect payment.
- paper tickets being activated on fare free days.* this third party has better data delivery https://www.anytrip.app

I've discovered today on my journey to Richardson, that my #mywayplus card was overdrawn again when I was trying to tap off, which was failing. This is the second time this has happened to me now, where it has allowed me to tap on but not off due to a funds issue.
There is no way to tell this without checking online or via a ticket machine. Validators don't tell you that there are no or negative funds, or that your account is temporarily blocked.
-
Did anyone else get notified that they were caught up in a MyWay+ data breach?
I didn't know there was one until I got an email. I can see CT reported on a breach about a month ago, but I am no longer sub to CT.

Is MyWay+ Transport Canberra's biggest disaster to date?
We still have buses operating with validators and PIDs not working, still no 3rd party data available, still no ticket machines and still no working PIDs at interchanges and major stops.
Its been 6 months.

Transit App is now pushing digital wallet fare validation in #canberra

I am excited for this

I've been putting off leaving a review on Play Store for the MyWay+ app. But I feel it has been long enough now and improvements to the app are quite minimal.
Unfortunately, with TC and NEC deciding to just hit the go button on this app without engaging their 200 citizen testers, this resulted in the app being one star bombed very early on. I think Canberrans were disappointed and annoyed about the experience, which is totally understandable.

So I've been trying out the QR code today, and it appears that it is much improved.

Can confirm, the stupid QR code is still not resolved and not working properly.
Partner QR'd at Macarthur, couldn't QR off at Dickson. We had lunch, still can't QR at Dickson at both of the northbound platform validators.
It says the QR code is expired. Try refreshing the app, but nothing. MyWay+ cards seem to work fine though.

The more I am reading about issues regarding MyWay+, the more shocked I am. It is clear to me that there appears to be a major issue with how the department has managed this project. If someone mentioned to stakeholders that ticketing and route activation would only follow scheduled timetable (like reported by CT), there is no way MyWay+ would have launched as it has.
This is a major failure of Transport Canberra. Canberrans and PT users should be disappointed.

Just come out there has been no live data on the buses this whole time. I had a strong feeling this was the case.
Why in hell did they launched on Wednesday? What the fuck was even the rush? It basically didn't work on launch for ticketing, and there has been no live data.
-
I'm questioning how the project was managed. The fact that Ryan and PTCBR was advising the government it wasn't ready the day prior says a lot I feel.

@abcfeeds
Clearly I am not the only person struggling to get #mywayplus working.Couldn’t generate a QR code this morning, ACT Gov login details not accepted.
App connected to internet for schedules but claimed no internet for ticketing.I do hope the drivers don’t cope flak from travellers and that I am allowed on the bus when the system goes down.
-
It appears that the government may have egg on its face after the launch of MyWay+
I am confused why it was launched today.

The MyWay+ validators at Dickson Interchange look good. Will be interesting to see if they hold up to the Canberra sun, something that the original validators struggled to do.
