The money to pay for this year's #Budget increase in Defence spending is coming from cuts to funding for disability supports in the #NDIS.
At the same time, government is still refusing to make fossil fuel exporters pay for what they mine from lands and waters stolen from First Nations people, and the destruction to Australia's biodiversity and contribution to global carbon emissions.
Come to Monday's 12pm rally at Parliament in Canberra to fight against cutting the NDIS to pay for war machines and fossil fuel subsidies!
Boosts for reach appreciated :blobcatheart:

One thing I will say about the Mark Parton texts, and about politician behaviour in general, is that the “Honourable” title given to retired Federal and State politicians is pretty hilarious given how so many in the political class behave. I’m very glad it’s never become a thing in the ACT. #actpol

I have thoughts about MLAs and Cabinet Ministers about whom formal complaints were made but the Commissioner chose not to investigate, and I am watching those thoughts drift quietly by like passing clouds because not my circus and the electorate will just keep voting for Labor and Liberal candidates anyway. #actpol

This is 100% Mark Parton areas. He’s a deadshit who hasn’t had a decent idea since well before he was on 2CA. #actpol

It'll be interesting to see the fall out from this. The Minister should resign imho. But I'm not sure she will.

Nice to see how frequently Andrew Braddock, #Greens MLA for Yerrabi, sponsors petitions to support local amenities in parts of #Canberra that aren't even his electorate. The three libraries in this petition are not in Yerrabi. The recent petition he sponsored for light Stage 2B to end at Mawson instead of Woden was also outside his electorate. He just really wants people to have nice neighbourhoods :) #actpol

Australia (Australian Capital Territory): Former Canberra Liberals (LIB, centre-right) leader and Yerrabi MLA Leanne Castley has resigned from the party. She will sit on the crossbench as an independent for the rest of the term.

Lovely morning at Mawson with Andrew Braddock, Sam Carter, and my friend Emad.
And I’ve run out of flyers thanks to some very pleasant post-stall letterboxing on this fine Sunday.
If you also want to see north Tuggeranong and south Woden friends jump on light rail from Mawson park & ride or bike & ride, reducing cars on the road by thousands more each day, you can sign the petition here:

ACT has two new “voices” groups: #Belconnen / #Gungahlin and #Canberra, styled as #communityIndependents. The latter featured in today’s Canberra Times.
I have explored things “voices” for many years and maybe should write more about it one day, but ... First, I think it’s a good thing. Second, it may be little understood these groups are not bottom-up. #ACTPol #AUSPol
Links to both organisations in reply.

I find it astounding how we have absolutely no Charismatic leadership from either the RSL or Politicians about why Universal human rights exist and why ‘Rules of Wars’ exist, and the history of it all.
The fact we have ‘Rules of war’ denialism - in this country is astounding, and that the denialism perverts parts of the ADF, including the SAS.
Australia has been a significant beneficiary of both Universal human rights and ‘Rules of Wars’. Sadly we also have a history of being antagonists in the development of modern international law.
Lest we forget.

Australia (Australian Capital Territory): ACT Greens (GRN, Green) leader Shane Rattenbury is retiring from politics. First elected in 2008, he is the world's first Greens Speaker and led the party in coalition with Labor from 2012–2024.

No leader is ever above an institution;
Nor are they ever above an ‘Office’ of an institution.
If they are, the organisation is no longer an institution but rather a private enterprise. If allegations are true, this is a deeply grave breach of conduct against the Institution that is ANU, as well as the ‘Office of the Vice-Chancellor’.
A ‘Vice-Chancellor’ and their power resides in following the rule of the institution and the office. It is not a blank cheque to do whatever you want.
This is basic management 101:
