  1. What the blazes is going on in our #EducationSystem ? Is this another example of #Managerialism going wrong?

“Dr McNeill was appointed CEO in June 2025, but while applying for the role, did not tell the CIT board she was under investigation by TAFE NSW for "serious misconduct".

The controversy sparked the public inquiry, which led to an assembly committee making seven recommendations and 11 findings, including that Dr McNeill should have disclosed the information about the misconduct investigation to the CIT board in a timely manner.

Dr McNeill told the committee that she had sought to disclose the investigation to CIT during the recruitment process but had been advised on multiple occasions, both verbally and in writing, by TAFE NSW that she was not permitted to do so. “

  5. I find it astounding how we have absolutely no Charismatic leadership from either the RSL or Politicians about why Universal human rights exist and why ‘Rules of Wars’ exist, and the history of it all.

The fact we have ‘Rules of war’ denialism - in this country is astounding, and that the denialism perverts parts of the ADF, including the SAS.

Australia has been a significant beneficiary of both Universal human rights and ‘Rules of Wars’. Sadly we also have a history of being antagonists in the development of modern international law.

    Lest we forget.

  9. Political dissent will ALWAYS be targeted by the state, using the tools they claim they put in place to "protect" the oppressed.

Police seize art posters depicting Trump, Putin and Netanyahu in Nazi uniforms from Canberra bar

Owner calls it ‘ludicrous’ Dissent Cafe and Bar was shut down after complaint, the first in Australia’s capital since new federal hate symbol laws

Police have seized art posters from a Canberra music venue and bar that depict world leaders and others, including Donald Trump and Elon Musk, wearing Nazi uniforms, and are investigating whether new federal hate symbol laws were broken.

  10. I recently spoke to the Canberra Times about Living Streets Canberra's disappointment regarding the delayed introduction of fees for footpath closures. The government delayed the fees after being lobbied by the ACT Property Council.

  11. Just an update regarding this, I have seen an email from Emerson's adviser that says he will move the motion on tomorrow.

  12. My problem with this is if it would actually get used. What I know from pedestrian activity is, pedestrians will find the easiest, quickest and most convenient way to walk. I would expect this to be especially true of teenagers.

So if we built a pedestrian bridge, would it get used, or would students just dash across the road because it was more convenient for them.

  13. Andrew Barr's office advised me a week ago that Tara Cheyne's office is looking into the situation at Botanical Turner. I haven't heard anything yet, so I have sent a follow up email to her office this morning.

The issue is ongoing at the site.

  14. It is no wonder why there is such distrust with Fix My Street in Canberra.

I had raised a safety concern regarding the bollards on City Walk at Garema Place, as construction workers have been leaving the bollards out with no cover, leaving a big hole in the ground.

On Wednesday, TCCS closed my report noting "Bollard Cover replaced". But today I visited the area. Again, the bollard is out, and there is still no cover for the hole.

  16. It’s hard to shake a first narrative (Greens “failure”). But as in previous post the story is more in the votes than the (fifth) seats. (Greens now looking likely to win 4 seats.)

  17. Increasing criminal penalties is pointless. Criminals don’t do a cost analysis before or when committing an offence.

The AFP ACT Policing is actively hostile when victims report crimes or seek police assistance. The police are deliberately slow to respond, knowing that victims will tire of the delay and withdraw the complaint. The police also don’t consult with victims before unilaterally dropping investigations.

The problem is not the law, the problem is the misuse of police power and ‘discretion’.

  19. Australian Federal Police ACT Policing excuse male violence.

    I am fucking angry.

Last year I was assaulted. I provided the police a statement and video evidence showing the assault.

The Australian Federal Police are not proceeding with a prosecution because the person who assaulted me did it, and I quote, “whilst undertaking heavy labour intensive duties.”.

The AFP consider that claim may be “consistent with innocence”. So bear that in mind people. You may want to use that ‘defence’ sometime in the future.*

You may also have a better understanding why people don’t want to engage with or report crimes to the police and instead seek justice by other means.

I guess I will just have to accept that people who have labouring jobs can go around physically assaulting people without any real consequences.
