  21. Musical Interlude: At the Old Time Festival, I saw the Golden Shoals (again). I saw them first when they were called the Hoot and Hollers...not sure why they changed their name, but oh well. I'm not a huge fan of their recordings, which are hit and miss for me, but live they're fun. This song came from a visit the singer made to an elderly musician who invited her to stay for a few days, and they lazed about the house in the mountains, puttering and making music. It's a great "vibe" song for a lazy weekend.

  31. Musical Interlude: Dame Patricia Routledge left us today. Best known to US audiences as Hyacinth Bucket from the Britcom "Keeping Up Appearances," she played a stuffy character whose ear-splitting voice inspired horrors in others.

In reality, Routledge was a versatile actress, an excellent physical comedian, and had a remarkable contralto voice put to good use in Broadway musicals (she won a Tony in 1968) and in operetta. Here she is, putting her comedy chops and voice to good use.
