I just saw a post of an American on Bluesky (who lives in Japan, and works at a military base, I assume) saying that it was his birthday, and on his birthday, he's allowed to bring his family (on the base, I guess) so he will introduce American brunch to his Japanese family.
And my thought is: Why? Why would you want to inflict this on your family? And on your birthday of all days?
