All stuff moved from A to B with calm help from @dtl and two great non- English guys with a van.
Pros:
- new landlord seems a decent bloke. Even offered to help with the move
- Three different neighbours said they were sad to see me leave the street and wished me well
- the new studio flat is a perfect rectangle which means I have a variety of layouts available to me
- nothing broke1 of 2

We're #MovingHouse tomorrow! The contents of my kitchen are packed except for essential tea-making paraphenalia. #Tea has punctuated my day of packing & cleaning with deliciousness & a chance to sit down.

I'm in. Important things dealt with.
I've had tea. Now unpacking boxes.
Bath then bed this evening.
But I'm in!

This morning we moved more than 20 of my large glazed #paintings into storage with a dear friend in #Eynsham, #Oxfordshire, close to our #NewHome - into which we move in just TWO weeks.
Thank goodness for my daughter-in-law & her vintage VW #campervan. 🙏 They'd never all fit in our Mini!

what is the point of a water saving toilet if we have to flush it twice ‽

Trying to focus on small annoyances like having to change my phone number rather than big ones like having to pack up my entire fucking house, including all my psychological baggage. #MovingHouse

Dilemma. You have recently moved to a new city and you have a cat. You would like to go away on holiday for a week.
You used to have trustworthy neighbours who would look after the cat.
We may have some of those here too, but we haven't found them yet.
Which boils down: no holiday this year. A pity, but I wouldn't dream of leaving our Geisha with people I don't trust 100%

ok, today was an effing long day. But the pods are loaded (to the brim!) with all my crap.
And I do mean "crap". I feel like I have way too much stuff. And I jettisoned a ton of things I was already feeling marginal about and had decided to bring and deal with on the other side, but when I discovered we were in danger of going to 3 boxes, not 2... hell no! (it'd be another $1K at least).
I do wish I had dealt with it better in advance and freecycled some of the stuff that I (sadly) had to end up junking. But my car was already loaded and the apartment was all packed and I needed to start my journey (tomorrow a.m.)
But fuuuuuuck this was a loooong (and crazy hot and humid) day.

I think there is too much faff in this country. I moved home a while back and just the hassle of having to change my address on everything is ridiculous.
Change your driving licence address or you might be fined
Update the vehicle logbook
Electoral register
Doctors
Banking
Online accounts
Ridiculous, honestly I think it's time to stop needing to give an address for this stuff. I don't even want an address 😭 I'd rather just get a little campervan or a boat 🤣

last time I moved to California (~11 years ago) I had a couple of suitcases and maybe half a dozen boxes.
At the moment I have waaay too much stuff. I need to be ruthless about donating things before the move date arrives.
