  1. Through #WINE and absolute fuckery, I was able to get #SkyrimSE running with #MO2 and run my existing load order. No more messing with #VFIO and #KVM . Only thing that won't work is #ENB — for that I'm testing #CommunityShaders which so far looks good. Not quite as pretty, but far more performant.

    • move Skyrim mod install from Steam .exe to GOG
    • after installing correct skse version and address library, updating a handful of mods, things just work
    • notice performance pretty quickly gets worse, laggy, stutters, and eventually CTD
    • narrow it down to a memory leak in the GOG .exe
    • there's a mod to fix it

    Thanks modding community

  3. So I finally found getting ModOrganizer 2 to run on GNU/Linux is easier than I expected once I found the right script. So that's my next few nights sorted building myself a nice loadorder.

  4. Modding Oblivion on Linux is challenging. I started to do it manually, but mods wasn't loaded even though I saw them on the datafiles panel.

Wyre Bash was lacking a requirements file (I may retry it from their git directly) and wanted to use the system python at all cost to function properly. I felt vitualenv or nothing. 🤔

Installing Mo2 was lengthy and the UI behaves a bit strange through Wine. It threw errors about unimplemented calls. But at least the mods were loaded. Too bad the game crashes after 1 second... 🤦

  5. Playing Fallout: London in a VM, installed through MO2: a virtualized file system over a virtualized machine.

    Why am I like this?

  6. So state of #steamdeck automated modding for #Bethesda games as I see it now. #Wabbajack: still basically impossible to run on #linux, #Vortex works with steamtinkerlaunch and you can do Nexus collections - but you lose #MO2 support.
Don't even bother trying to do #Skyrim - mods are a mess right now. But you may have a shot doing stuff like #Oblivion using collections.

This is something I hope we will see significant improvement on.
