  1. Every single day I’m reminded of something @kfitz said on our panel about professional development at #MLA23: Your job will not love you back.

  2. #mla23 participants, don’t forget to upload your convention materials to CORE, the open access repository for the humanities. Learn more about sharing documents using CORE: mla.hcommons.org/groups/2023-m

  3. “universities are not meant to be profit centers, and shouldn’t be run that way. They are rather shared infrastructures dedicated to a form of mutual aid, in which those who have – in this case, knowledge – support those who need, with the goal of producing a more just and equitable society.” — Kathleen Fitzpatrick, from a talk at #mla2023 #mla23

  4. Today was a bad day to drive 250 miles down #the101 with the family in a rented car, from #MLA23 to Santa Barbara. We made it home all right, but lots of flooding, exit closures, and cautious maneuvers. A midway rest at the unique/bizarre #MadonnaInn in #SanLuisObispo proved vital.

  5. Was lucky to be in this brilliant company at #MLA23, as we tried to track the twinned processes of racialization & accumulation across the empire's many theaters of dispossession. Hope this conversation continues.

  6. For those of you still riding the #MLA23 #MLA2023 high *and others* please consider submitting something to the Electronic Literature Organization's conference in Coimbra this summer!!! *deadline 1/20*

  7. @VCP I'm... not so sure. I saw a couple people with Mastodon handles on their slides but by and large, didn't notice anything like the various earlier waves during #MLA23.

  8. I was a total creep yesterday and attended a couple talks at #MLA23 where they discussed my artwork *probably the greatest honor of my life!* Thank you Abigail Moreshead, @anasalter and Anna Nacher for the more than generous readings of my work!

  9. One of the links I dropped into the #MLA23 #MLATwitterEthics discussion was the videos & reading lists on digital harassment and public-facing scholarship that came out of the AAS Digital Dialogues series I organized. Open-access here: prcurtis.com/events/AASDD2022/

  10. It was a privilege to hear from some fantastic scholars & activities on #MLATwitterEthics & the weaponization of social media. "We need accomplices, not allies." So much to keep thinking about together & to bring to our colleagues & institutions when advocating for change. #MLA23

  11. I'm here to celebrate the genre of "scholars holding up their newly-published books in celebration at the #mla23 or other conferences, practically weeping with joy." These moments are crucial not just for them personally, but for the whole aspirational profession of scholarship!

  12. Well #MLA23 has been a blast; it’s so lovely getting to meet you folks IRL and not just on here. Absolutely buzzing about some new ideas

  13. Shoutout to @briancroxall. Thanks for all the #MLA23 toots! Great to build up community here and stay connected with what's been going on.

  14. NetWorkLab’s call-for-participation is now open! Join us for this #NEH-funded professional development opportunity and improve your remote collaboration and facilitation skills! (Fully online and hosted by Greenhouse Studios at #UConn)

  16. Come to our awesome roundtable this morning: “Racial Justice Work in the Humanities: Public-Facing Scholars’ Projects, Lessons, Limitations, and Hope.” I’ll be speaking on my work fighting anti-Asian racism.✊🏼#MLA2023 #MLA23
