It's quite a nerve-wracking thing to start something so big, and to attempt to pick up a mantle that has, sadly, collected dust for too long. I've run a number of smaller contests and ongoing topics all meant to bring yet another source of fun to anime-lovers’ feeds:
#InterchangeableAnime
#Animetion
#MissingLogo
#FavoriteAnimeMoment
#RandomAnimeHopefully this will be just as successful! I've got topics lined up into the new year. I've got plans for... 1/2

…and so, #InterchangeableAnime has come to an end. Here's the final scores.
Thanks so much to everyone who played along, and to everyone who enjoyed this thought experiment about swapping similar characters between #anime.
What's next? Well, the old standby of randomly timed #RandomAnime, of course. And I'll be brainstorming new contests like the #MissingLogo one I ran before.
And also... maybe it's about time the #animangafoundit #animangachallenge made its return? Hopefully by September.

And with that, the #anime #MissingLogo contest is complete!
I think it was a success. It let me do my favorite things of highlighting anime pics while introducing or reminding people about some cool shows.
Final score had @narcogen in 1st, with @Rana and @negativeprimes tied for 2nd.
Perhaps I’ll do another guessing game in the future, but next I want to do a "Favorite Moments in Anime" series running A-Z highlighting the best moments or collections of moments that make each anime for me.

Day 35 of the #anime #MissingLogo contest featured the absurdly stylish opening from Ya Boy Kongming.
When Zhuge Liang, courtesy name Kongming, dies in ancient China he is magically transported to modern day Shibuya where he meets down on her luck night club singer Eiko Tsukimi. Kongming is so moved by her singing that he vows to help make her a star, and in doing so fulfill his own dying wish of being able to use his tactical genius for peace rather than war.
Great characters. Great music!

Day 33 of the #anime #MissingLogo contest featured what I imagine is the snowy ground of Yoitsu home of Holo the Wise Wolf.
In Spice & Wolf, Holo talks her way into tagging along with a skill traveling merchant named Kraft Lawrence. The two travel from town to town selling high and buying low, at least when their hubris, jealousy, or a town’s own economic troubles aren’t disrupting their normal routine.
Come for the engagingly witty banter between the leads, stay for the economics lessons.

Day 24 of the #anime #MissingLogo contest featured “Kids On The Slope”.
Three high schoolers from different backgrounds form a friendship cemented with the power of Jazz in this heartfelt show directed by Shinichiro Watanabe with music by Yoko Kanno.
I actually haven't watched it for a few years, but I remember being struck by the down to earth, realistic ups and downs the three friends go through, and how their love of Jazz was always there to pull them back together even after arguments.

Day 19 of the #anime #MissingLogo contest featured Castlevania.
When a corrupt bishop has Dracula’s wife burned at the stake for nothing more than using medicines to help the sick, the powerful vampire vows revenge against all of humanity.
It's up to Trevor Belmont, the last of the Belmont family of monster hunters, Sypha Belnades, a Speaker magician who passes knowledge through oral histories, and Alucard Tepes, Dracula's own son, to stop him.
Great animation. Witty dialogue. Watch it.

Day 14 of the #anime #MissingLogo contest was Flip Flappers.
Depressed middle schooler Cocona get dragged between the many diverse alternate realities of Pure Illusion by her new friend Papika. They strengthen their bonds while exploring everywhere from a land of snow and ice, to a creepy yuri themed girl's school, to a techno city in need of mecha defense.
The wide variety of art, excellent animation, and a deeper story than you might expect make this one of my favorite magical girl series.

Day 9 of the #anime #MissingLogo contest featured "After The Rain"
After high school runner Akira Tachibana suffers a painful ankle injury she gives up her favorite sport, pushes her friends away, and wallows in a restaurant across town.
When middle aged manager Masami Kondo offers her a free coffee as a storm clears it sets Akira's heart aflutter. She takes a job there and soon proclaims her love to Masami!
Thus begins an oddly good tale of two people seeking to reconnect with their dreams.

Day 5 of the #anime #MissingLogo contest featured another of my favorite anime: “Shojo Kageki Revue Starlight"
This take on the real life all girl Takarazuka Revue musical theater company sees compelling rivalries play out on the stage in dazzling, magical, metaphorical combat sequences where the goal isn't to harm the other stage girl, but to outshine her so the magic of the stage works for you.
Great music. Great set pieces. Great message. And the sequel movie turn it all up to 11.
