It is done! All three Miscast Swordmaster and the Permadeth one are painted up.
For this set, I put myself up for a challenge: It's the first time I actually used oil paints for miniatures, and to make things more interesting, I relied on the Zorn palette, using only Burnt Umber, Red, Black, and White, mixing all the other shades from those four tubes.
I experimented with different ways to thin the paints (lighter liquid ending up being a huge boon: It dries a lot faster), how to mix things, how to push paints around, achieving a somewhat metal look with the non-metallic paints, mostly using only one sized brush (and that one not even with that fine a tip), and most of all: Coping with the tediously long drying times between the different paints and layers.
All in all, I am pretty happy with the result I must say. These four guys are each unique, and while they share the palette, they definitely each have their own paint scheme, and from half a meter, they look really good.

so, started on the next Miscast Swordmaster - and this time, I actually thinned the oil paints, which indeed makes all the difference in drying times. :D
Still deciding if I want to try a glowing-eye look or not. Generally though, the whole "oil paints and Zorn palette only" experiment is a nice challenge and interestingly different.

Feeling better but nowhere near 100%. Took meetings yesterday & filmed a bit, but had to skip a colleague's presentation. Hoping to be up to attend Miscast tonight in person. Cat is both performing and co-directing. If not, though, I'll watch it streaming

Looking forward to attending University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts Miscast 2023 this Friday night! Student performers play and sing against their “type”. You can definitely watch online, but I'm going in person!
