What a hard life. She woke up from her hiding place under my bed, drank some water, and went back to sleep on one of her beds in the bedroom.

Mellie and her best friend Doris.
They grew up together and love each other unconditionally.

Had to wash Mellie because she was miserable and hot.
She is so cute and fluffy. Sitting like a good girl expecting to have some of my wife's lunch.
Her hair is like silk when she comes out of shower.

If someone told me that when I am 62 years old, I will be putting my finger inside a dog's anus to clean up her anal glands, I would have laughed out loud and called them crazy!
Mellie has been scooching alot lately, she is very uncomfortable and licks her but a lot.
I used to take her to the vet for our seasonal visit and ask the vet to clean it up for me, but since I am living on extreme low budget, the poor Mellie has to accept my "treatment" instead of his favorite person (she loves our vet a lot).
I am very glad I still had a few gloves in the first aid kit and managed to squeeze her but in the shower.
SHE WAS NOT HAPPY!
But she is now walking around "normal" and not scooching on the rug all the time!
Me on the other hand, had to wash my hand 3-4 times, even though I was wearing gloves!

Shaving Mellie and ran out of battery.
80% done. She feels so much better already
She doesn't like her paws to be touched, or her belly. It's hard in this heat. It is 31°C inside!
Got lucky because she scratched my face and missed my left eye.

Today, I made the mistake of petting another dog in the park, lady Mellie was upset and jealous.
Didn't even look at me until we got home.

Had to break my "Buy nothing month" to buy treats for Mellie.
The supermarket chain Super U is selling these treats for 1.56 a pack, and until Sunday the second one is 68% off, which means 2 of them are going to be a bit over 1 euro each.
It is the cheapest treat I have ever seen around here. so I went to the store and bought a bunch of them.
now Mellie has something to look forward to when she helps me chase bugs or chases the pigeons off the balcony!
PS. She LOVES them.

Mellie did it again, roled over something stinky in the park. It was a torture riding the elevator with her.
She is now clean and angry at me because I don't have enough treats to satisfy her mood.

Spent some time in the park with Mellie.
There was a group of dogs playing and I tried to get Mellie is to play with them, but she wasn't interested.
She sure was curious, but for some reason she would not go there.
I think she is still recovering from the trauma of that stupid dog that attacked her last month.

Belly is full, blather is empty, legs are tired and she is just having another lazy evening sleeping on one of her toys.

Made a salad with lettuce, hardboiled eggs, tomatoes, pickles, chicken breast, feta cheese and with a sauce made of mayonnaise and lemon juice. After eating most of it I gave my bowl to Mellie to finish it.
She cleaned up the bowl and now wants more.
I am 100% sure she would not touch it if I just put some in her bowl, but because I gave her my bowl, she ate the whole thing.
And the good thing is, I just need a simple wash of the bowl, she licked it clean.

Mellie got a new bone. She has been busy with it for over 2 hours and even tried to eat it on the couch.
I bought this giant bone in ventimiglia yesterday, cut it in half and saving the other half for later.

Shaved and washed Mellie.
She needed a haircut and I can't afford paying for it so I used a trimmer to kind of shave hee.
Took a long time and my battery ran out at the end. But she looks like a whole new dog.
Washed her clean and gave her the tick medicine since summer is coming.
Now I'm exhausted. Wish I had a beer.

Took Mellie for a long morning walk on the beach, the park and around town this morning.
The old lady was so tired by the time we came to the street light by the apartment, she just wanted to get home and didn't stop for the red light (as I have taught her to do).
Now she is taking a long nap on my bed dreaming about eating something.
She is going to get her fur trimmed and a long shower later this afternoon.

She has developed a bad habit since my wife came back. She begs for food and stares at her when she is eating.

Happy 12th birthday sweet Mellie!
She is the most adorable dog I've ever had.
I cherish the days I have with her. She is getting old, but still happy and peppy during our walks or after a nice dinner.

Baking some treats for Neloie, using broth from bones I cooked, some meat, fat and other stuff from butcher, cooked with sweet potatoes, carrots, string beans, oat and flour.
It will be a lot of treats to freeze with a full pot of bones and 2L of broth.
Mellie likes it so far. Will see how she does after a few days/weeks. Good way of saving money and giving Mellie good treats.

We just came back from a long walk, she had food and we played.
After a while, she went to the kitchen and touched the cabinet where I put her treats and sat down like that

Sun is out again and she found a spot to nap.
She has been really happy lately. She was hoping on the way to the park and had a zoomy while we were there.
It was a rough year. 3 operations, lots of vet visit, but she is very healthy and happy again.

Mellie still have some skin problems, so I have to wash her 2-3 times a week with special shampoo.
She is getting better in the shower, just cries quietly if the water is not hot and shivers (she likes it really hot).
And I forgot to give her a treat afterwards, so she was in my face demanding her prize for being a good girl.

Mellie needs bath, but can't wash her until end of next week.
May have to find a way to just wash her face and paws.
She is refusing to eat. Not her food, not hotdogs, not pasta and not her favorite sausage.
Only treats.
I'm getting worried, she needs all the food to recover from her surgery.
On the positive side, she is walking on all 4 paws without any problems and our short walk to the park next door and back was a great joy for me.
She is healing and hopefully I can remove the bandage and in 2 more weeks we can remove the stitches.
