Medium is basically a very good, purpose-built blogging platform, which is something worth appreciating in 2025.

Scott Lamb says UGC is a "gross" term, doesn't like it for Medium; posits ECC instead.

While UGC is definitely a bad acronym, "Experience-created content" is trying way too hard and still commodifies everything as "content".

Why not just call it writing?

Then he says, "Our goal is to help get the next billion people writing."

Writing. Not producing "Experience-created content."

The #MediumDay program is kind of a chaotic combo of SXSW and a self-pub conference — with no clear indicators of editorial curation.

155 sessions across a range of topics with a diverse roster of international speakers, the main connection apparently being they all write on Medium?

It's probably the best indicator yet of who Medium's current audience is — a mix of bloggers, aspiring thought leaders, and the usual grifters.
