  10. #mbstorm I have been in whiteouts on prairie roads many times, and they are scary. Just drove from Grace Hospital to Polo Park on Portage Ave. and was at zero visibility 3 times in that 7 km. Holy blizzard, batman, everyone be careful out there.

  11. @AndrewHenry and it truly is -24 in Winnipeg. This is a potent system heading east. #mbstorm

  12. @mike can confirm, but #mbstorm could have been worse

  13. Although we've officially been in winter mode here the past couple of weeks, the #mbstorm outlook for tonight into tomorrow will certainly make it a blizzard-y winter wonderland. Enough snow for plenty of snowballs but will be kinda cold for them to hold together very well as snow becomes more grainy or powdery the colder it gets.

At least @emmamckeon had some fun with them during her recent visit to Switzerland (she needed to wear her entire wardrobe to keep warm):

Not expecting a whole lot, perhaps 2–5 cm, but it’ll be the first notable accumulation of the year for #Winnipeg. More on @aweathermoment in the morning!

  19. Spicy evening out there for #Winnipeg. Storms really picked up as they moved into the city; saw some reports of pea-sized hail but just rain so far much of the city. #MBstorm

  35. Aside from about six literal small snow flurries today, there has been no snow to speak of, here, as a result of the now passed #mbstorm.
It's below freezing now, and could remain that way for some time.
We're entering the darkest sixth of the year, here & now, in stark contrast to how it is in late May through late July. But, that's just how it is. #SeasonsChange

  36. Wildfire #smoke from fires in and near Northern British Columbia will move southward into the Canadian Prairies and Northern Plains through Tuesday.

Most of this stays elevated but some degraded #AirQuality is possible in North Dakota, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

    #NDwx #MNwx #SKstorm #MBstorm #wildfire #weather

  37. There are also fires burning along the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border sending #smoke southeastward.

    #SKstorm #MBstorm #fire #wildfire #weather

  38. There is a strong risk (4/6) for parts of Manitoba this afternoon. Large hail and a few tornadoes are possible. Stay safe everyone! #mbstorm #wxtwitter #tornado #hail t.co/TQZNXFWraK t.co/EEKE5vShUS

  39. Closer to the MCV, new convection has developed this morning, with strong to severe thunderstorms now working eastwards through Parkland #MBstorm. These thunderstorms will likely taper off heading east of the escarpment with redevelopment closer to the #SKstorm border this afternoon. Thunderstorm development is also likely later in the afternoon across SW #Manitoba and for #Winnipeg and the Red River Valley as well as a cold front pushes southwards into the region.

  40. A MCV (#mesoscale convective vortex) developed over #SKstorm last night and has supported an area of convection much further east than originally forecast yesterday. This morning, the more broad area of thunderstorm activity ahead of it is quickly dropping southwards out of #MBstorm into the USA, with a broad area of stratiform rain to its north. This rain could collapse very quickly as it heads into the valley, but there’s a small chance it holds together and might make it to #Winnipeg.
