💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: 🐒🍌 Nine #macaques at #Singapore’s #Mandai #Wildlife Reserve spontaneously matched round #sounds to round shapes and spiky sounds to spiky shapes, echoing the classic bouba/kiki effect long seen in #humans.

The researchers trained the #monkeys to link decorated lids to #food, then played the words and tracked their choices. The team argues the effect may rest on ancient perceptual biases shared with a distant common ancestor.
