  1. I've been recording/mixing/whatever in Logic Pro since before it was owned by Apple and today I learned about Smart Controls, which seem awesome, and were introduced 13 years ago.

  2. Even if it's impossible to upsample the actual #recording (yeah, if you record in 44.1kHz, you can't magically add the detail to make it 96kHz or 192kHz), but your effects/processing plugins at least have a better clarity in the final product.

This also applies if you use #MIDI #instruments that have the capability for higher sample rates. For example, in #LogicProX the #Alchemy #synth has a Quality selector that can be set to Ultra.

  3. My use case for this is taking #LogicProX projects that were originally recorded and/or mixed in 44.1kHz and #resampling the entire project to a higher sample rate, which gives #MIDI instruments and time-based effects such as #reverb and #delay the potential to have higher quality, even if lower quality #audio itself can't be upsampled.

  8. So there's a few quirks about #resampling #audio in #LogicProX

If you're trying to #resample you likely need to pull up the Project browser panel and use "Copy/Convert File(s)... ^K" under the Audio File drop-down menu and check "Change file reference in Project Audio"

I always make a New Alternative... in the File > Project Alternatives menu before making major changes that the undo button won't fix. This will save your project when it gets messed up.

  14. Recently tried out #ProToolsIntro and it's cool to have a somewhat fully functional version of it for free.

Was thinking to do #DrumEditing with it again because it has #BeatDetective but unfortunately only 8 tracks are allowed.

So I was searching again how to edit drums in #LogicProX and found this video, which can be considered the ultimate #HowTo:

Great sounding drums, clear instructions, no stretching with #FlexTime and a very straight-forward approach!

  19. Hi I’m Merlin 👋 I’m from #southafrica 🇿🇦 Here’s an #introduction

I spend my day running a small e-commerce pet store. 🐾
The rest of my time is spent doing the things I enjoy:
    - Spending time with my dog 🐶
    - Songwriting & making music in #logicprox 🎶
    - Learning to code in #swift & #swiftui 💻
    - #cooking and #baking 🥖
    - Building my #zettelkasten 🧐
    - Exploring #openworldgames 🌅

    If I could, I would #travel permanently. 🏍️
I love meeting new people from around the world, so please do say hi! ☀️

My setup isn’t ideal either. I use headphones for all of my work, normal ones for recording & initial mixing. Then Slate VSX for fine tuning by emulating different 1st class studios. I’ll then use the speakers as a final listen just to ensure there’s nothing really out of place.
Because I use headphones for pretty much all my listening now, I can use that experience to mild what I’m hearing when I record & mix.

  21. This is one of the older ambient pieces that will be on the upcoming album. Looking forward to hearing what y'all have to say about it. It's short and sweet.

  22. I'm working on increasing my YouTube presence to the point where I can start drawing a bit of income from my posts there. I'd be honored if folks would check out the channel - mostly my music and music videos for now - and subscribe, like, and comment. Thank you! Hope to see you there.
