We’ve gone with the same company and spec as we loved the original cabins so much.
Only difference is this time we aren’t building me a shed (as I have a nice garage for dry and tool storage and crappy lean to car port which I’ll convert to rough storage and workshop)

@vwdasher they are both quite big.
The #roadtrek is perfect for staying in for a week or two max.
The caravan is slightly bigger but even so I’ve no idea how son managed to live in it for 9 years and not go (completely) insane 🤯
He’s so happy now in his #LogCabinBuild

There has been quite a delay in getting our #LogCabinBuild works finished (about a year) for “reasons”.
But we are now re-starting work and today the old caravan finally left for a new home and Bam the #Roadtrek can take his place on “the drive” -

Excuse the Facebook link but some prick has been invading our privacy with his drone directly over our house while we were in and about the garden.
(Especially nice after 6 weeks of antisocial behaviour on the lock in front of out home.)Anyway it seems it’s all perfectly legal, because it’s a small unregulated drone, if very antisocial. The Law needs to keep up. 🤬
But here’s my home and environs from above.

Can’t quite believe it’s July and I’ve had to turn on #theshed AirCon to heat it up so I can feel my fingers as I work 🤷♂️ 🥶

#ShedLife is a good life
Currently drinking fruit tea and rocking out with some great new-to-me tunes on shed stereo. Which is now two linked AIYIMA A07 MAX driving the 4 Mordant Short 902 as son has taken the old lump of Yamaha amp for his new gaming setup
I did find the tweeters I’d lost so they are now in the one set of 902 👍
And I’m sorta watching the fire burn outside 🔥🧯💪😂

Final bits before son can move in are done!Fridge door rotated, light modded to not glare into living area, and I clipped the cables up. I’m very happy with the results.
And today after it stopped raining I was able to do the kitchen sink and shower wastes. Not perfect but it will do until we get the groundwork done and paint the chassis beams. They are tantalised so that can wait for nicer weather along with insulating the water pipes and boxing them in.

I’ve used some skirting off-cuts to make more skirting / kick boards for the kitchen units so that is now finished 😁
Just need to swap the fridge door to open the other way and fix the light cables and I’m finished inside!
Outside I still need to plumb in the sink and shower waste but that’s a simple job I think.
Then get the groundwork guys back to do outside.

Sink supply and waste at least to outside the wall are plumbed in and the Blue Tissue of Truth is in place and dry so far.
So I can plum a sink up and get it watertight first time apparently 🤞😉
And secondly don’t believe the experts who all insisted running an un-insulated hot water supply pipe 5 meters underground was never going to work. About 3 degrees C drop in temp after a minute and a half running. (About the same as our kitchen sink in the house)🤷♂️

@lewis looks like you can weld in there
without it catching fire! A major drawback with my #LogCabinBuild 😉Having space to crack on with “projects” without worrying about the weather and tidying everything away every night is pure luxury 👍

Slow progress today.
Worktop wax/oil/vanish is finish!
Worktop and sink unit are bonded together and sealed to the wall!
Built the draws…but still need to fit the handles, sink waste, cupboard doors, make and fit under unit kick panels etc etc

Kitchen worktop stain - first of 3 coats ☑️
Donna is doing the oil/varnish as I’d get it everywhere it wasn’t supposed to be. 😉
Sink will need fixing ◻️
Doors on lower units ◻️
And some more wall lights ◻️And probably a few more things I’ve forgotten…

Today I overcome my nerves and actually used the big scary router to cut out the worktop for the conduit 😬
I think it came out ok. And the worktop is ready to be varnished after I cut the inner cabinets to allow room for sink tap and overflow waste pipes.
We are nearly finished inside 👍

Not quite as ££$€ scary as the ‘fitting the shower enclosure’ day, but there was much more likelihood of things hurting me today.
After a few trials with the router, which vibrated loose all my attempts at securing jigs in place, I decided to use my trusty old jigsaw (at least 35 year old 350w Black & Decker one) ….
About 3 hours later 🥵 (it was very slow going) I ran the router around to square this up 👍
Just the cutouts for the electric conduit to do now 😁

The kitchen units arrived today. So it’s full speed ahead as it’s the last thing to do inside before our son can move in to the cabin.

That’s the last of the skirting and trim made up, waxed and now fitted in the cabin.
Made a splash back from some off-cut OSB
And trimmed around the shower tray.Kitchen coming on Friday but apart from fitting that I think I’ve finally finished inside 🕺
I even managed to try the comfy shed chair during a hot lemon drink break 😉

I couldn’t bring myself to spend £90 on some wood trim pieces to finish the skirtings etc when I have a pile of wood leftover in the garden from the build.
So Donna let me spend £160 on a big router (and bits) and I’m making making some 💪🤷♂️

@Meilyr even with the #SoulEV winter range of sub 100 miles we haven’t actually needed to charge it away from home.
We’ve tested the local supermarket fast chargers and the slow ones near good dog walks. The can be a little tricky to get working but we haven’t had any total failure to charge yet. A type 2 to 1 adapter is useful for tethered slow sites.
Hopefully we can get some mileage on it and test out the charging network once I’ve finished the #LogCabinBuild and D feels a little better.

@Basmitharts @Tiezep that’s fine … the brake discs on my Airtek look like that … from lack of use* … the calipers have ceased too 😬
*perhaps using it as a skip during the #LogCabinBuild upset it 🤷♂️😉

Upgraded The Shed audio from a 20w micro system to my old 1998 Yamaha DSP-A2 kicking a pair of Mordant Short MS 902 I found on eBay 👍
I’ll keep a lookout for another set on 902 so I don’t need to crank the volume as high when I’m up the other end of The Shed …

I’d forgotten how heavy these beasts are. If you need a cheap multi speaker amp these are great value but I guess shipping would be expensive 😬

Much progress again today.
Soil / Waste pipes amended to include the basin, after much pulling tugging and twisting (no swearing).
Sink base fixed in place and taps plumbed in easy peasy, waste neatly done and lined up really well.
But would the plug hole stop pissing water?👎 … every time I tightened the bottom it would pull itself, and twist off centre💦
Much swearing and more Stixall than I’ve ever used on one job before & the “blue tissue of truth” seems happy 😃

Good day’s work today.
Cabin toilet and waste plumbed up (and working) although somehow we ordered one sans seat 🤷♂️ we were probably going gaga with all the different shower and wc options as we did them both at the same time. 😵💫
Outside waste isn’t final as sink (arriving Friday) will drain into the air admittance valve stack.

Well we went to IKEA in Leeds and left vowing never to return (again). Horrible place made even worse by fake smells being pumped into the air. I remember the claustrophobia but at least you could previously smell the restaurant as you approached 🙄
We found a kitchen we like from a small business up near Ripon and the Bathroom Sink and mirror unit we found Ex-Display in Goole.
So build and delivery delays give me a nice leisurely schedule to get the cabins finished.

We’ve designed a kitchenette, but we are dreading going to Ikea to collect it.
and I’ve fitted a shower enclosure. The WC is waiting for us to get the sink unit from Ikea too before I fit and plumb it all in.

Fitted and modded some cheap black out roller blinds.
Might need to fettle the ones on the doors too as they hang too far from the frame and let light in.
