Only got drenched by a thunderstorm once!
It doesn’t need to be neat because it’s the route into garden for digger and dumper when we get around to digging out the many tonnes of gravel.
Shower and then leftover home delivered takeaway pizza from yesterday I think. 😋

We called on the owners of old house yesterday to explain some of the peculiarities of the house and it’s systems and they are so happy and excited for the future. Seems they are gonna do some of the alterations we were looking to do (before all the ASB) but love all the works we did when we renovated so that feels really good.
Today, brain has decided I have to fill in the pipe hole from the cabin waste water outflow 🥵

In all the excitement of a day off yesterday, I forgot to mention we completed the sale of old house 🥳🍾
So that brings to a close that chapter of our lives.

Update on my hire van bad luck 😬
Tigger did a much better job Co driving than big ted. And the very bouncy Iveco Daily was returned undamaged after 400 miles on a tank’s worth of diesel
I absolutely love Dailys as they’re propper little trucks with no corner given to comfort or luxury
They still have an absolute pointlessly low first (crawler) gear but will set off even fully loaded up hill in second with no complaint. Great mirrors and ultra tight turning circle 👍

Today son has been moved across from old house successfully and into new cabin which thankfully he loves. 👍
Curtains and blinds are now drawn and probably will never be opened again. He likes it dark all the time. 🤷♂️
Sale should complete on old house on Friday and close that chapter for good.😮💨

We HAVE EXCHANGED on the sale of old house! 🥳
Huge relief that’s out the way, move son out Wednesday and we legally complete sale on Friday and close that chapter of life, as we continue the new one we’d already started.
Feeling very relieved, grateful, sad, lucky and still a little angry and confused.

August has been a bit mad, I’ll update the blog probably when I get a chance but we have moved everything out of old house, except for son who will move Wednesday this week into the finished 🥵 cabin, in time for completion of sale Friday.
Exchange hasn’t happened yet because of purchasers’ purchaser’s mortgage complications, it was due Friday, but should happen today or tomorrow 🤞

So we know know why the purchaser of old house isn’t as worried about the antisocial behaviour on the canal lock as most buyers would likely be.
She’s a serving Police officer and with two huge German Shepherd dogs.
That should keep the kids under control 👍🤣

So I’ve broken the other two vans I’ve hired this year … so what am I going to do to this beautiful almost new Iveco Daley Enterprise have trusted me with?
Nb I specifically requested a size down (Transit Custom) but LWB van but they upgraded me to this 😬🙄🤣
Hopefully it goes without a hitch as we move the last of our stuff out of the old house over the next few days🤞

Huge relief here!
Our purchasers have confirmed they have no outstanding legal issues via their solicitor and have agreed to sell their house on the 21st.
There are still a couple of outstanding local searches to come back that may prevent us completing our sale then but neither side thinks that a delay on our sale will be a problem (in fact its good for us).
All systems go emptying old house and prepping new cabin for son to move into.

Absolutely exhausted but that is all the big furniture and stuff out of old house and in the new place, or off to good causes.
We’ve got a small van booked for a week to get all the small stuff whilst we also rush about madly trying to finish cabin before son has to move out too.
All while hoping the old house actualy sells as purchasers are up against a hard time limit for their sale, but are still asking legal questions of us 🙄🤷♂️

… Anyway stopped exchange details and it was the builder mate of the guy that was buying #WeirdHouse #woodenhouse but couldn’t get the mortgage sorted so had to withdraw before we found it!!
Mad coincidence, and we now have a ground work contractor contact 🤣

Well my luck with hire vans continues…
We’ve been moving all the big stuff out of old house in a big box van with tail lift. What a horrible thing modern diesel transits are, somehow they have engineered all the fun out of driving them.
Any way someone on Freecycle wanted a sofa dropped off on town and I managed to clip the wing mirror of another Transit avoiding an oncoming car that seemed to be edging out into my lane…

We aren’t quite ready to order the vertical blinds yet because of dust (it’s still a workshop too) But I think I have found a reasonable solution to the sun trap main window baking the living room.
Now that the door company has delivered the doors that should have been here first week of March. 🙄 -

I’m absolutely exhausted after doing some work in the garden the past couple of days so I’m off to watch the #F1 British GP on the big tellibox on the wall, with my son, at the other house today.
I think it will be the first time I’ve watched anything on a big screen for 6 or 7 months.

That will be (one for the reasons) why we don’t have many #woodenhouse #WeirdHouse in the UK and ours was fabricated in Finland and shipped over in kit form.

Can’t believe it been a month since the last proper update!
It’s been a hectic month.
Progress is being made, we had a “holiday” and we sold old house (hopefully) despite agro on the lock.

Today I’m mostly crawling around #WeirdHouse #woodenhouse pulling up weeds from around the perimeter of the house.
Can’t quite bring myself to use nasty weed killer but big bungalows have quite a large perimeter it turns out and I put my back out on Monday clearing away the #COTW26 festival fencing.
Any long term suggestions for either controlling or getting them out more easily?

We’ve gone with the same company and spec as we loved the original cabins so much.
Only difference is this time we aren’t building me a shed (as I have a nice garage for dry and tool storage and crappy lean to car port which I’ll convert to rough storage and workshop)
