Having a #woodenhouse has its advantages, it’s well insulated from heat and cold although less isolated from sounds outside.
So we get to hear birds whenever there would otherwise be silence in the house.
It’s positively noisy outside in the garden today.

Easter Update
We’ve all moved into the new house full time.
We’re really just camping out but it’s much less stressful than living apart.

Progress will be much slower because CoCo is still scared of the DIY and tools of any sort so D will take her out when Will and I are working. I’ll do what I can at other times.

It's slow and very hard work but things are all going in the right direction. and we can start to see what the whole house will look like.

Had dinner at Batoa beef hotpot restaurant in Da Lat. Cozy wooden place, perfect for the cool weather here. Beef hotpot is tasty, broth is just right, prices are reasonable. Loving this down-to-earth side of Da Lat!

By some miracle I’ve found a local builder, gardener, Jack-of-all-trades, handyman who’s on a similar wavelength to help with tha stuff I’d spend too long having to research before I tackled it. No bodges.

I’m exhausted after a hard week of ripping crap out of the shower room with Will and trying to work out how to line the place with wood to start making it livable again.

Ok EDF, how many final bills are you going to send us.
They started sending one a day, often with two day’s in one envelope, after they stopped emailing us multiple times a day.Telephone CS agents say it “unusual” etc, say they are escalating … but still they come 🤣

There has been a bit of a gap in work on the house because we came down with Covid on 12 November and then my Mum passed away leaving me to make all the arrangements and sort out starting to get her estate sorted.
We did start back on the house just before Christmas but I just haven’t found time or motivation to blog it.
On the plus side the dogs are much more comfortable at the new house since we made the end of living room more cozy 👍

Day off from #woodenhouse #WeirdHouse dismantling to tidy up the swan rescue before a “director’s visit” from the land owners.
Had quite a workout with the mower and fixed some things we could access with the ponds drained.
RYC #e_Niro now smells of cut grass and vomit 🤮 as Grandkid didn’t enjoy my spirited drive home from Manchester Airport to Harrogate going the scenic route and I haven’t found time to clean up properly yet 🤢

A Hidden Retreat on Sherkin Island
An old van sits in the driveway of a house on Sherkin Island, Co Cork. The barrier blocking the way is apparently used extensively on the islands off the Irish coast and in other rural areas, but I’m more familiar with seeing them in WWII films or war zones!
